Börte is a Dutch shepherd! Börte is the first empress of Mongolia! Börte is a highly trained circus dog! Börte is a client of Autumn’s!
In short, there is no ‘in short’, because Börte is too awesome to be summarized.

I love watching dogs play. I could just lie down in the grass and watch them for an hour at a time. I know this, because I’ve done so.
In fact, funny story: my last telephone job interview, I took my phone out and sat in Rincon Park, under the giant bow and arrow. And watched the dogs run around and play madly, while I talked on the phone to some guy about a programming job. He paused, pretty early on, and said, ‘Uh… is that a dog barking?’ And I said, ‘Yeah,’ and didn’t volunteer any more details.
I didn’t get offered the job, but I did get to pet some dogs, and then went to work at Hipmunk anyway, so that worked out just fine.
(PSA: if you’re viewing this on facebook I’m afraid you’ll just have to visit my site for the full experience of this one. I think.)
So I’ve been trying to figure out what to do about Apple Live Photos, which like I said before I really like but which don’t translate easily to the web.
It turns out, thought, that they do translate ‘difficultly’ to the web. Check this out: hover your mouse over the little ratty here and see what happens.
Now I just have to get captions working and we’ll be as happy as a rat in a hammock. A little rat hammock, expressly designed for cute little rats. With twitchy noses. And speaking of which…
What a pity, Caturday not falling on Friday the 13th. I just don’t understand it, it doesn’t seem like it’s happened at all in the last… wait… I’m just getting a notification that Friday and Saturday very rarely fall on the same day. Huh. Who knew!
So today is Caturday the Fourteenth, and a good day for black kittens! And yes, this is a reference to that awful movie from when I was barely more than a kitten myself. But the kittens are not awful, unless you count ‘awfully adorable’.
Okay, take a deep breath and say it with me: this is Deputy Hunter Pinot Brown the First, also known as Deputy Brown or just Deps. She is a jindohuskita: a jindo/husky/akita mix, according to genetic testing, and this one I buy because look at her. And in these pictures she was 4 months old.
She isn’t any more. I ran into him back in January, and I can’t believe I’m just getting around to posting him now. Needless to say, she looks a lot different now, which you can see for yourself by checking out her very own tumblr page, where you can see highlights such as ‘her dressed as a bacon cheeseburger’ and ‘her along with a portrait of her done in latte’.
Edit: So I may have just run into Deputy Brown again and I may have just found out that I got her gender wrong when I wrote the original blurb. But in my defense, it was a guess based on the first name ‘Hunter’ since I didn’t write it down because I was too busy writing down thirty-six other names. So there’s that.
So apparently miniature English bulldogs are A Thing™. Or, at least, Zoe is a thing, and Zoe’s mom said that Zoe is a miniature English bulldog (3.5 years old). Thus, by induction, we can determine that cheese is delicious. And that Zoe is adorable, whether or not she looks like a French bulldog with floppy ears.
Ah, Buddy, you’re a gorgeous puplet even if I don’t know what half of you is.
This’ll be the last corgi for a few days, so enjoy her. I know I did, because she is possessed of two thirds of the trifecta of ultimate cuteness: a fluffy corgi with half-floppy ears. All she needed was a long floofy tail and she would have been causing strong men to break down and weep.
