Ladies and gentlemen, every time I think we’re just about out of new breeds, I run into something new. Bodie (3) is a Kokoni, a Greek companion dog breed.

I dropped by Pier 39 at the end of May to discover that the sea lion floats were overbooked. (If you’re not familiar, for some reason sea lions love to congregate on a set of floating dock thingies in the San Francisco Bay, right near the touristiest part of the city.) I haven’t seen them like this for like a decade. It was awesome!
Unnnghh it has been a rough week. I am ‘on call’ from two days ago until next Wednesday. Normally ‘on call’ means that you deal with all the little emergencies that pop up every day, and in between them you get some work done. I haven’t been awakened by my on-call shift for close to a year! This week, starting Tuesday (which I wasn’t even technically working!) but really starting on Wednesday (which was technically a holiday for us, Juneteenth!), it has been dealing with all the BIG emergencies that popped up every day, and somehow having to try to make time in between them for all the LITTLE emergencies. And being awakened at 2 AM once and at 6 AM once, and the shift isn’t even half over yet.
But! I am trying a new medication and it seems to actually be helping me with my sleep, at least to a certain extent. So I was not as behind on sleep to begin with, and I seem to be dealing with the emergencies better than I would have any time in the last year or so. So that’s nice!
In other news, ‘Have a basenji!’ Well, no, you can’t have Luna (3). She is already had, and quite happily. But you might be able to borrow her for a minute or two if you promise to scratch behind her ears.
Pico is the last of the three foxy-terrierists that I ran across in the last week. He is two years old today, and boy is he excited! Also he has an instagram, Pico_the_wire. There is a painting of Pico on his instagram. It is awesome.
We last saw Buster Keaton (now 4) in 2022, when I got a bunch of terrible pictures of him because of very bright sunlight. So I’m glad that I ran into him again in a shadier spot!
I didn’t notice the shaved leg at the time. Maybe if mom shows up and sees this post she can tell us what the surgery was about. Hope it was nothing serious!
So, funny story: last Saturday, I ran into a wire-haired fox terrier. Hadn’t seen one in ages! Super nice pup. And then, two hours later, I ran into… another wire-haired fox terrier! This one I knew from a while back. And then, on Sunday, I ran into… Pepper, an old friend and dog-sitting client of both Autumn’s and mine! I dunno, sometimes breeds do come in clusters, but usually not quite this cluster-y!
Anyway, I’m going to post all three of them right in a row, ending with a birthday dog!
This little approximately-spherical birb scolded me one day as I wandered down Union Street in Cow Hollow. Oddly, he isn’t a cow-bird, he’s a goldfinch! They sure are pretty.
