It depends on the type of octopus. I know of a diver who returns to the same place every year and is greeted by the same octopus every time. Not a giant, but a smaller one. It somehow recognizes her even with all that diving equipment on. It’s been at least five or six years so far.
Wow, really? That is so awesome. I’d love to have a friend like that.
