Double Dog Day: Lab/Basenji Mix (?) and Pug Mix

This… is the life we lead. Constantly chasing our own tails, never quite catching up with what we want.

Labrador Retriever/Basenji Mix

The brow furrows always make a dog look serious and worried. Every time I see a basenji I have to fight the urge to tell him everything is going to be all right.

I have had 2 basenji ‘s in the past.
Firstly was Jemma she was a rough worked haired female who lived to be 16 years old.
Secondly, is Rhan a smooth haired male.
He is currently 17 years old and going well.
He is blind, has a bit of arthritis in his legs which I massage daily but otherwise he is “bullett proof”. Thing is, Jemma was born in Lincolnshire England and Rhan was born in Terrevieja ,Spain.
Both were/are wonderful company, faithful to the last, devoted and obsessive. Their traites are very similar, both suffer(ed) fits, dream excessively and yodel instead of barking. In fact they are very quiet dogs normally unless provoked.
    Neither like(d) other dogs socially.
    Wonderful nature and personalities
    No hesitation on recommending.

They do seem like real sweethearts. And wow, 16 and 17! What’s your secret?

Lots and lots of ? love and understanding.
Their breed are so gentle. So faithful and trusting
I cannot fault them at all.
Smooth or wire haired they hardly moult
And they adore being cuddled and fussed over.
All dogs are wonderful, beautiful creatures.
But there is something special about a basenji.
You need to own and love one to fing out.
