Double Dog Day: Golden/Dachshund Mix and West Highland White Terrier

Just saw this pair today, and I just had to post them. They were both awfully cute, and the little white guy was very patient and didn’t seem to mad that I spent a little more time fawning over his friend.

Autumn and I aren’t really sure about the identifications, but we both said the same thing (Golden Retriever/Dachshund mix) for the gold one, and the white one Autumn thought looked like a West Highland White Terrier. I looked ’em up online, and I agree. Surprisingly thin fur, but for all I know that may be normal for them.

Anyway, they were both awfully cute, and very photogenic. As such, just oodles more pictures this time, after the break. (Oh, and the golden one is named ‘Ginger’, and I’ve forgotten the name of the other one. Don’t think of it as unequal treatment: the only reason I remember Ginger is because one of the pictures has her tags in focus. And if you happen to know these dogs, or in fact be the guardian of these dogs, please do add missing info in the comments section.)

The pair of them seemed to get along pretty well, although they look pretty different.

Look at that ridiculous tail. Also, the goofy grin is pretty nice too.

I love the stance and expression of the dog in the foreground, but the background nose really steals the show.

I wonder what he's looking at? Or is that just a 'blissed out from ear rubs' expression?

I'm sorry, this one is a little out of focus, but with that expression, how could I not post it?

A little, white, slightly pink fluffy mop, with super-expressive ears.

On the other hand, this one is just a totally shameless ham.

I can't decide whether this expression is sublime or ridiculous. Or both.

Possibly my favorite trick ever: she's trained to, when she hears 'bellybellybelly!', roll over on her back with her feet up in the air. And receive belly rubs.

Kinda speaks for itself, doesn't it?

Ginger is honored to be a Dog of the Day! Also, the white dog’s name is ‘Charli’ and I’m sure she is quite pleased to be featured on your blog, as well.

Wow, I can’t believe Ginger is dog of the day already, that’s awesome and she totally deserves it.
Also, the bellybellybelly trick sounds pretty awesome.
    Congrats Ginger and Charli

Just had to post them early, while they were still fresh in my mind. Especially since I wanted to remind myself to train whatever dog Autumn and I eventually get to do the ‘bellybellybelly’ trick. That has ‘roll over’ beat all hollow.

The west highland white terrier looks exactly like my dog ! I didn’t know his identification before I saw this. Now I know!

Hi there! I’m not sure if I can help you or not… I’ve just sent out a few emails, and I will let you know what I can find. I think I know of a couple of places that breed dogs that are somewhat similar to Ginger.

I’ll report back here when I know more.
