James Hutton is named after the noted Scottish geologist and everything-else-ist. Despite the name, though, this James Hutton (12 years old!) is a Welsh springer spaniel (according to his parents), not a Scottish springer spaniel. And hey, he appears to be our first Welsh springer spaniel, and our first ‘first’ in quite some time. Awesome!
(Hmm… looking at online pictures of Welsh springer spaniels, I’m not sure about this pup… seems kind of small, and not red enough. Anyone know anything about them?)
Happy Labor Day, everyone. May you live long, and enjoy the fruits of your labor.
Hi Adam, I was glad to find these pictures. Our dear James Hutton died April 13, 2017 at the age of 16. We have dog pics but happy to have more. About James’ s light colored coat. Not all Welshies have the dark red sometimes it’s lighter.
Aww… I’m so sorry to hear that, but wow, what a privilege, to have such a great dog for such a long time. I actually remember him (because of the name, and because we still haven’t had another Welsh springer spaniel on here since him) and I do have some more pictures of him that came out pretty nicely, if you’d like me to send them to you. (I can see your email address in the admin section of my blog, so no need to put it in a comment.)
