Dog of the Day: Cooper the Flat-Coated Retriever

I remember running into this guy, because I was surprised: hadn’t seen a brown flat-coat before. Didn’t get his name or age, though.

Edit: He’s a he, named Cooper, and he was 9 months old in the pictures (per his owner, down in the comments.) Aww! Also, it’s his birthday, so happy birthday, Cooper!

I mistook him for a Chesapeake Bay retriever mix. Pretty obvious why.

Brown Flat-Coated Retriever Sitting Weird

He had one of the goofiest sitting postures I’ve ever seen on a dog.

He’s my new pal. My old Black Flat-Coat Trevor passed away Sept. 2013. Got this fella less than a year ago.

This is Cooper and at the time of this picture was about 9 months old. As retrievers go, they all kind of go through this ugly duckling growing puppy stage. He is now exactly a year old and starting to look like his regal breed…

To twist a quote from the movie Jaws…”Cooper drives the boat Chief”

Thanks! I fixed his info. He’s adorable, hope I’ll be running into him again soon so I can say ‘happy birthday’. 🙂
