Well, I just took a quick look, earlier, and discovered that today is pretty much the one year anniversary of me starting this blog. I’m feeling pretty good about managing to stick to it fairly reliably for that long. We shall see what the new year brings.
In the mean time, here are my first pictures of Rupert, a golden retriever who lives in our neighborhood. We’ve run into him quite a few times but we haven’t gotten any pictures that are up to even my standards until yesterday.

This is Rupert's usual pose when he's waiting for mom/dad outside the Chameleon Cafe (our neighborhood coffee shop).
Rupert only gets up for people he knows will pet him. He has us nailed as easy marks.
Golden retriever expressions can be divided into two groups: happy and soulful. Rupert is a master of the soulful look.
Rupert has a part-time job as a peace-and-contentment radiator, looks like.
To quote Gamble Rogers: ...(he'll) lay his grizzled snoot up on your knee and look up at you with those big limpid brown eyes and say 'I love you, I'm a dawg.'

I’m working with Macy’s to spread the word about a pet friendly event at Macy’s Union Square. I’m sure as a dog lover (I read your story of your quest to find a pet friendly apartment – how sad and touching at the same time), you’re very familiar with Cesar Millan, the dog whisperer. He’ll be there for a special meet and greet and book signing.

What: He’ll sign copies of his book and share tips on how to create a pet-friendly environment in your home.
