Dog-Day-On-Caturday: Rosie the Birthday Girl Golden Retriever

Sorry for skipping the important Caturday crowd, but I ran into Rosie today, on her birthday, and I just had to post some pictures of the birthday girl!

Grinning Golden Retriever

Rosie had just finished a birthday cookie when I caught up with her.

Golden Retriever Looking Cheerful

Eminently distractible. Another dog walked by just as I was shooting these.

So nice to meet you today! Thank’s for posting my Birthday Girl!

You, and she, are more than welcome! She’s so photogenic.

Say… did you use to have another golden? Named Jennie? Maybe this one?

Oh my god, yes! How did I not know about this? That is indeed my beloved Jennie. She died unexpectedly of kidney failure in 2016 at the age of 6. We got Rosie a year later to help heal our broken hearts. I love this so much! Were we at Crissy Field? Thank you!

I’m so sorry to hear that, but I’m glad you have a lovely pup.

The reason I knew that was because back in 2010 you dropped by and left a comment on the day I took those pictures:

The first comment a given person makes on my blog requires approval (to fight spam), so when I saw yours show up without requiring approval I thought, “Gee, I wonder when she commented before?” And when I searched I found that comment. And so naturally I searched for your pup, and discovered that yes, I’d posted a golden named Jennie right around that time.

          Just call me Sherlock Bones!

I remember your pup, though, because I just adored those last two pictures, the ones of Autumn hugging Jennie. I’m a lot better at remembering dogs than I am people, these days. (Still terrible at names, though.)
