When I started this blog, I knew I wasn’t a big expert on dogs. However, I thought I had at least seen all of the most ridiculous breeds. Dachshunds are so silly, corgis are both funny-looking and insane, and Newfies are just flat-out goofy-looking. But Sunday I came across a new one on me, the field spaniel.
Now, from what I’ve read online, this guy doesn’t typify the most recent breed of field spaniels, in Britain. Apparently they’re a lot more normally-proportioned these days. This guy is a throwback to the field spaniels of 1900. And thank God for that… I would hate for that breed to die out.

Huge head? Check. Giant long ridiculous ears? Check. Super-goofy expression? Checkity-check-check.
Hilariously long body? Cheeeeeeeck. Hilariously short legs? Chk chk chk chk.
Tiny stubular tail? Check. Fur so long that small rodents could hide in it for weeks? Check.

And Baylor is totally awesome. How did you come to get a field spaniel? They’re such an unusual breed!
