Dog of the Day: Bean the Coton de Tulear

It seems ‘Tulear’ is a city in Madagascar, and ‘coton’ should be pretty obvious, not only from spelling but also from the appearance of this rather ridiculous pup.

This is Bean, a 2.5 year old super-fluffy example of the breed. His mom explained that he needed to be groomed, but I think he’s awesome the way he is.

Coton de Tulear

This was my first sight of Bean. I couldn't tell what I was looking at, and I still can't. Is that a tongue? Is that a nose? Where's his FACE?

Coton de Tulear

That's a little clearer... he does have a nose! And eyes, and a tongue. I'm not so sure about ears though.

Coton de Tulear

Aww. Happy face. And so... round. Practically spherical!

Yay! That’s my Bean! He does have ears. Although they are very hard to find. He looks especially poofy in these pictures. I guess what they say is true about the camera adding 10 pounds … of fluff! Thanks for the post!

Thanks for letting me take the pictures!

And the camera may have added 10 pounds of fluff, but it didn’t add any cute: 100% of that is built right in to Bean!

Anytime. I told all my friends about your blog. I love it! I really connected to your story about how you and Autumn started your blog. Before I got Bean, I would go on “puppy strolls” and just pine over the dogs I saw. I hope you find your way to a pup of your own. In the meantime, I’ll continue to enjoy your blog.

Who are you calling ridiculous? That is my cousin Beanie. He is one tough Puff Ball!

I’m sorry, I must have forgotten to complete my thought.

      How about ‘ridiculous-LY AWESOME!’

      • Shaggy says:

        Ridiculous-LY AWESOME! is exactly right!

Thank you for clearing that up! I just got to look out for my little buddy! Great Pictures by the way…. Sometime when we wrestle I don’t know which way is coming at me either. 🙂

Bean is also an important community figure. He’ll be walking the Fillmore this coming Friday with his choice for Mayor of San Francisco, John Avalos. He can’t vote, but he has some serious pull in that merchant district.

    • Adam Lang says:

This blog is a politics-free zone, so I officially can’t tell you that John Avalos is awesome. 🙂

What’s going on on Friday? Mr. Avalos doesn’t have anything listed on his web site…

      • Wendy Aragon says:

The website only lists the big mobilization and fundraising events. Merchant walks tend to be low key affairs put on by neighborhood volunteers. But in keeping it free of politics, let’s just say that Bean, who is an excellent judge of character by the way, will be hanging out with his good friend John Avalos on Fillmore this Friday to show him which stores give the best treats. 🙂

  4. Beanie !!!!!!!!!!!!!! You are the best of the best of the best and we love you, lots of love Michele and Layla xxxxxxx
