Dog of the Day: Stanley the Glen of Imaal Terrier

This is (probably) only our second Glen of Imaal terrier ever! Stanley is a recent arrival (along with his dad) from the East Coast. He’s definitely a Glen of Imaal — pedigree and everything. I told his dad he should totally line up a blind date with Whiskey. They could splash in mud puddles and violently attack streams of water together. It would be awesome!

His dad said he was a real challenge to take pictures of. And indeed he was. (Yes, sharply slanted street.)

I got lots and lots of pictures of his right ear, though.

This is as close as I got to a good full-face shot.

Neat! I’ve never seen one in person. Hope Stanley and his person are enjoying SF.
Adam – hope you are feeling better!

They’re nifty dogs. Apparently, judging by DNA analysis, they are more closely related to mastiffs and St. Bernards than they are to any of the other small terriers. How awesome is that?

I’m definitely a bit better, but this whole government shutdown and its effects on people I know and like is really causing some angst. Ugh.

Mastiffs and St. Bernards? I would not have guessed that. At a certain angle, Stanley’s face looks like that of an Irish Wolfhound to me instead.

Between the government shutdown and a possible BART strike, we will all be feeling pain. But on the bright side, you’re feeling a little better. Got to hope for a bright side…
