Dog of the Day: Anna Marie the Romanian Rescue Dog

Ladies and gentlemen, meet Anna Marie. Anna Marie had a pretty tough start to life… she was found, an unknown herding mix dog. seriously injured on the streets of Galati, Romania. (Her full story is here.) Fortunately, she was picked up by a very humane sort of person, who took very good care of her, and brought her to San Francisco. And who started an animal rescue organization in her honor.

Ten years later, she’s still kicking around, and the rescue organization is still going strong.

Despite her early experiences, she turned out to be a sweet, trusting, happy dog.

Did I mention her injury was serious? It was a broken back, and a severed spine. Hasn’t slowed her down in the slightest.

Okay. So I’ve run into Skippy twice in the past few weeks. These pictures are from the first time, when he was nine weeks old and ridiculously adorable, as opposed to the second time, when he was twelve weeks old, twice as big, and… ridiculously adorable.

Skippy (and his friend Capp) have an Instagram account. I know I don’t have to tell you to go there, because you’re already there.

I ran into someone carrying her two cats home from the groomer. Her two shaved-except-for-the-head cats. Unfortunately, most of the pictures didn’t come out very well, but I think you can get the general idea from this one.

Dog of the Day: Nala the Samoyed (With Special Guest Star Hotpot the Pembroke Welsh Corgi)

I first ran into these two playing together, and the vast majority of the pictures I took of them came out blurry. But I ran into Nala again today, and I went back through the pile of pictures and I found a few that were just fine.

The both of them are one year old, and equally playful. And they’re both Airbnb dogs, too, so they get to play with one another quite a bit.
