Dog of the Day: Bosco the Lagotto Romagnolo

I know what you’re thinking, “Oh, right, Lagotti Romagnolo, I see a half dozen of those every day!” Well, sure you do, but this is the first one we’ve seen around these parts. Yes, that’s right, even after seven years we’re still seeing new dog breeds.

Bosco is two years old, and is one of Autumn’s dog-sitting clients, from the rarefied altitudes of Pacific Heights.

Incidentally, ‘lago’ means ‘lake’ in Italian, and the ‘-otto’ ending is a diminutive with overtones of cuteness (if I’m not mistaken). Romagnolo means ‘from Romagna’.┬áSo Lagotto Romagnolo means ‘adorable little lake of the Romagna region of Italy’. Go fig, I guess, right?

Bosco sizing me up. He definitely wasn’t sure what to make of me.

He eventually decided not to make anything of me, alas.
