Dog of the Day: Indy the Treeing Walker Coonhound (Now With Update!)

I nabbed a few pictures of this fine fellow (between 1 and 2 years old) back in January, and somehow managed to get him on the exact day that his new folks had adopted him. Welcome to the family, Indy!

UPDATE: Okay, as if running into Indy on the same day mom and dad picked him up from the SPCA wasn’t enough of a coincidence… guess who I ran into today, while I was on a trip to the dog park with Autumn and one of her canine charges? INDY!

He’s apparently settling into city life quite well, and comported himself like a perfect gentleman the whole time he was near me. I’ve added another two images, taken today, to the end of the post. Yay Indy!

Quite a stare he has. Also... lucky parents. He already had mastered 'sit' and didn't leap all over me or do anything else ill-mannered. What a great first day!

The proud new dogfather. Also, that's my favorite cheese shop in the background there.

Wonder what he's mixed with?

Most of my latest round of pictures were ruined by a bit of dog-nose slime that a certain corgi left on the lens.

Yup, that's the one. Tidus greets Indy in that most canine of rituals.

Come play with me, Indy, at Lafayette Park, weekdays between 11:00 AM and 1:00 PM. One catch though, you had better like to RUN! I will keep you an your paws, chase you around trees and maybe under a bench or two, all in the name of fun. We will race, rattle and roll, then test our Tug of War skills. (Lucy the Boston T. came close to winning today.) When I get called back for a treat by my walker, please come along. I will reluctantly share with you what extra delicious nibbles my Mom and Dad gave her share with friends.

Does Indy have a sister in Michigan? We have a girl dogs that looks exactly like Indy. We had her for a year and 4 months. She was in the shelter for 2 years.

Okay.. this may be my dogs kinfolk! I found her at a sawmill in Warrenton GA a few years ago. She looks is EXACTLY like him. She is 50% treeing walker coonhound and 32% lab (had DNA testing done).

You mean kin to Taija’s pup? I wouldn’t be a bit surprised. Got any pictures of your pup online? If so, leave a link here.
