Triple Dog Day: Opata, Poofy, and Pisika the Poodles

A fearsome threesome: Opata (boy) and Poofy (girl) are 8-week-old poodle puppies, and mom is Pisika. They were MURDER to get a good shot of, being so hyperkinetic that several of the shots where I was trying for all three had not a single dog in the frame at all by the time the shutter closed.

Two Apricot-and-White Poodle Puppies

There’s a reason they call dogs this size ‘toy’. They totally look like little stuffed animals. So cute!

Apricot and White Poodle Puppy

From what I recall, this one was definitely hiding from me.

Hee. I love the little face poking out from under mom.

All three of them were playing like puppies.

Dog of the Day: Louie the Border Collie Mix

Louie (9 years old) is a mellow, cheerful sort.

Black Border Collie Mix with Short Legs and a White Chest

Hmm. Dachshund/border collie, maybe?

Black Border Collie Mix with Short Legs, a White Chest, and Brown Eyes

Those are pretty much what I think of when I think of dog eyes: brown and soulful.

Dog of the Day: Pancakes the Golden Retriever/Pembroke Welsh Corgi Mix

We haven’t had a corgi/golden mix since our last round of Holly pictures.

Gold and White Golden Retriever/Pembroke Welsh Corgi Mix with Half-Up Ears

I knew just what we had here when I saw the half-up ears, the stubby legs, and the golden fur.

Dog ear genetics baffle me.

Kind of a neat place to play fetch.

Happy face, and waggy tail-blur.

Dog of the Day: Ruby the Sad-Faced German Shepherd

I’m pretty sure Ruby has nothing to be sad about: she’s healthy, has a loving family who she’s been with for ages, and has the most ridiculously adorable ears in the history of ridiculously adorable ears.

German Shepherd with One Floppy Ear And Some Unusual Black/Grey/Blue Markings (Merle?)

Is that blue merle coloration? On a German shepherd? How strange… other than that, she totally looked like a 100% purebred GSD.

German shepherd Dog with One Floppy Ear

Aw man, it must be murder eating dinner with that face looking at you. “Are you SURE I can’t have some of your steak?”

Dog of the Day: Small Münsterländer

Autumn and I were walking along, and Autumn said, ‘Hey, that looks like a Small Münsterländer!’ And lo, it was.

It’s not often I get to trot out the umlauts.

Small Münsterländer

Older guy, but still spry. They have a really distinctive coat, don’t they?

Small Münsterländer

Hah, I like that expression.

Small Münsterländer

Coldwetnose.

Site News: Still Broken

Just to keep you all up to date: the site randomly decides whether it wants to post my updates or not. I have to manually check later in the day to see if my last post went through.

Think I’m going to need to experiment with a different hosting setup and see if that’s the problem.

Dog of the Day: Golden Retriever Puppy

Ran into this little gal when I was out and about with some friends of mine. She was locked in a pickup truck for a couple minutes while dad ran into a house to grab something, and REALLY REALLY wanted to come out and play with us. Just as we were leaving, dad came out and got her and I snapped a couple shots.

SO. CUTE.

11-week-old Golden Retriever Puppy

Oh god the puppy belly. Save me, I’m drowning in cute!

3-Month-Old Golden Retriever Puppy

I think these two are going to have a great time together.

Dog of the Day: Stitch the English Setter

Stitch is 10.5 years old, and still going strong.

English Setter

Yes, that is a ‘Dogs of SF’ business card in the background there.

English Setter

They’re outside a local Polk Street cafe. It’s always a great place for dog-watching.

Dog of the Day: Oliver the German Shepherd/Greyhound Mix (with Guest Pomeranian)

Oliver totally reminds me of a cartoon dog I have seen somewhere, but I can’t remember where, or even in what context. Someone help me out here!

(It’s funny: I guess he’s been around the neighborhood for a while. Since I saw him three weeks ago I have seen him twice more, but I never saw him before. I’d remember.)

Tricolor German Shepherd/Greyhound Mix with Classic Saddle Markings

For some reason I find Oliver goofier-looking than either German shepherds or greyhounds. (That’s okay, Oliver… goofy is good!)

Tricolor German Shepherd/Greyhound Mix with Classic Saddle Markings Meets a Fluffy Black Pomeranian

Oliver likes everyone: people, other dogs, whoever.

Very expressive face.

Polk Street is a fun place to take pictures, because there are so many dogs that you can watch the dogs, and then watch the dogs watching the other dogs.

And there’s a happy expression, which seems pretty typical for Oliver.

Dog of the Day: Gorgeous Malamute (Mix?)

Is it just the angle of the shot, or does this dog look like she has a little corgi in her?

Red-and-White Alaskan Malamute, Possible Mix

That’s an awfully pensive expression.

This is a picture from quite a while ago, at Bay to Barkers.
