Dog of the Day: Buster Keaton the Wire Fox Terrier

Buster Keaton (male, 1) is named after an amazing silent-film actor. I’m not sure why, since fox terriers aren’t exactly well-known for being silent…

White And Ginger Wire Fox Terrier Grinning
Every fox terrier I’ve ever run into was almost manically cheerful.

Dog of the Day: Zeppie

Zeppie, short for Zeppelin, is three months old. I didn’t get her breed, and with those ears I am not even going to hazard a guess, besides ‘cuuuuute!’

Woman Holding Little Puppy With Huge Ears
Zeppie really wanted to wiggle out of those arms and go lick everyone’s ankles.

Dog of the Day: Olivia the Duck Tolling Retriever

Olivia, according to my notes, is 2, and ‘a little bit aloof’. She’s also big for her breed, and beautiful.

Someone even knows a few tricks.
Nova Scotia Duck-Tolling Retriever Looking Pensive
I have never figured out why some dogs (goldens and Nova Scotias, primarily) have what looks like a little braid at the front of their ears, but it’s adorable.

What a pretty smile.

Double Dog Day: Walter the Great Pyrenees and Clementine the Australian Cattle Dog Mix

Walter is a full-blooded Great Pyrenees, although I hadn’t seen one with dark ears before. Clementine, on the other hand, is a super-mutt, one quarter Australian cattle dog and that’s the biggest percentage she’s got.

White Great Pyrenees Dog With Black Ears
I thought he was half Pyrenees and half Anatolian shepherd.
White Great Pyrenees Dog With Black Ears
He’s definitely a gentle giant, though.
Black And White Australian Shepherd Mix
Looks a lot more than a quarter ACD, doesn’t she?

Dog of the Day: Bulldog

I think this might be the shop pup for the Fresh Blades Barber Shop, but I’m not sure.

Brindled Bulldog Looking Deflated
I sometimes wonder why the little tiny bit of tongue. Like, do they forget about it? Or do they just need a little tiny bit of cooling?

Sunday Switchup: Dragons and Snakes?

I wonder how long this has been around and I just never noticed it? Looks pretty new, so maybe not too long. It’s amazingly well done. Wonder if the artist lives there?

Dog of the Day: Maisey the Cesky Terrier

Just a couple days after our last ‘first’, I ran into another new breed today: Maisey (a girl) is a Cesky (Czech) terrier, which is apparently the second-rarest breed in the United States. According to her owner, there are fewer than 50 of them in the US. I decided to post her today because yesterday was her second birthday, so consider this a belated happy birthday to Maisey-dotes!

Grey Cesky Terrier
Despite being a Czech breed, Maisey is actually an immigrant from Belfast, Ireland.

Double Doggie Bag Day: Yuki and Mochi the Chihuahua Mix Sisters

These two cuties (12) are real sisters, same litter and everything. And they’re doing great… they’re only packed up here because they already walked several miles today!

This is Yuki. Her nose is turning pink. I hope she gets enough sunscreen!

Dog of the Day: Mookie the American Pit Bull Terrier Mix

I met Mookie (2) on a very momentous day: apparently he was about to be adopted! The fellow who was out and about with him was a volunteer for the SFSPCA, who was fostering Mookie, but someone had been to see him twice for adoption and was just about sure they wanted him. And when I checked, he wasn’t on the web site any more, so I think he found a home. Yay, Mookie!

Tan American Pit Bull Terrier Mix Sitting On A Bus Seat
He was a little stressed about being in a bus, but I think fifteen minutes of me petting him helped a little. It sure helped me.
