An akita/Australian shepherd: a combo I never would have thought of. However, they are two of the prettiest breeds I’ve ever seen. And this pup’s dad was pretty sure that was what he was.
Funny thing, though… both of those breeds are generally pretty fluffy. This guy had fur shorter than any Aussie or akita I’ve seen.

Look at that friendly face. Someone's figured out that in San Francisco, a stranger is just a belly rub you haven't cadged yet.
He certainly does have an expressive face.
Colorful, too. He's got solids, speckles, spots, blazes, a stripe down his nose, and socks. A little of everything!
I know this is an old post. However I just got an Akita/Aussie mix a few months ago and she looks almost exactly like this. She is a bundle of energy. Smart, stubborn, loving. I swear she can understand everything I say.
Quite an old post indeed! But that’s awesome. I’m not surprised at the intelligence… akitas are smart if stubborn (the stubbornness means that they’re somewhat lower on the list of ‘canine intelligence’ than I think they deserve) and Aussies are super smart dogs.
You don’t have any pictures of her online, do you? She sounds like a great dog.
