Poor Daisy. I know I feel a bit overwhelmed in chocolate shops, surrounded by all that lovely chocolate that I can’t have. I bet dogs feel that same way in pet stores.
My notes say ‘timid’, but I always prefer the term ‘shy’, or even ‘coy’. Seems a little less sad, somehow.
This pair was quite busy, but gave me a quick hello on the way by. Both are 4.5 years old in these pictures.

And now, in celebration of my birthday, I would like to present to you some pictures of that rarest of rarities, a shy corgi! (I sat on these pictures for over a year. I had sixty pictures of him, and the best four included one with his nose cut off, and required extensive editing. Mumble.)

Never mind. No timid here. (Bah, I can’t believe I cut his nose off. But look at that ear. Just a teensy fold at the tip.)
Just when you thought the brindled puppies couldn’t get any cuter than Bowser, here comes the 5-month-old Jax to give him a run for his money.
If there’s a ‘dog ergonomics’ textbook, I bet that’s not an approved position.
I think Jax’s ears are just a tiny bit more ridiculous than Bowser’s.
I found myself in great need of kittens this morning. Fortunately, I still have a few left.
The site is back to working again! It turns out to have been a corrupted database, which nobody thought of at all. I was looking at the performance problems (which are a separate issue) and thought maybe rebuilding the database would help, and lo and behold, there were errors. Once they were auto-repaired, things started working again. However, two chunks of data were deleted from my database, and I have no idea what they were, so if you see the site doing anything strange, please let me know.
Well, when I say it’s fixed… it’s fixed except for that pesky performance issue, which we still have no clues about. My hosting provider, Hurricane Electric, has helped me out a lot in setting up a caching plugin, and I’d like a little feedback from my readers, if possible. When you loaded DoSF today, do you have a good feel for how long it took? Was it a second or two, or was it closer to ten seconds? (If you can’t remember, try reloading later on today, or tomorrow, or whenever you next visit the site. If you reload right now, it will almost certainly be very fast.) If that’s not the most ridiculous sleeping position I’ve ever seen, it’s certainly in the top ten.
Argh! I have seen this pup twice now, once just this morning… and I’ve forgotten his name! I know he’s a boy, and is ten years old, and is ridiculously fluffy and adorable, though.
He wanted to make one thing perfectly clear.
I wish I’d gotten this from just a foot further to the left. I could have gotten a perfect ‘giant head with stubby little legs’ effect going.
He sure has the classic corgi happy face.
I’m not sure I believe the mix, but the woman who had him seemed quite earnest, so I guess I’ll take her at her word. I must, say, though, that OH MY GOD CUTE!
Bowser caused a brain meltdown in at least five people in just the 30 seconds or so that I was standing near him.
I bet this guy lasted about … eight seconds in the shelter. Maybe nine, if they were closed.

Just spent another two hours trying to debug WordPress. It’s fun, reading computer code you don’t understand, written in a language you don’t know, which is being run in an order you can’t identify.
So have a corgi butt. This is Tidus again, who I see very often in the morning on the way to work, and of whom I will never tire. He has a perfect corgi-butt, which shakes back and forth in a perfect corgi-waddle.
Those tocks! Those drumsticks!
Still troubleshooting. And there’s still trouble to shoot.
Baxter is Tibetan terrier number two on here. Move over, Cici, you’ll have to share the limelight!
Every time I go down to Fillmore Street during the day, I meet at least one unusual breed.
They’re usually pretty friendly, too.
