Today’s dog is a Shetland Sheepdog, also known as a Sheltie. And despite appearances, this pup is not being kicked in the head. In fact, that expression is this web site’s first baroo. (Second definition, natch.)
Shelties are awesome.
Today, in honor of Welcome Home Autumn day (she’s back after a month and a half in Ireland!) we post our first Golden Retriever. However, this is not just any Golden… this is Ceili (pronounced Kay Lee. Meaning: Irish music party!) She’s Autumn’s dog from back in Indiana. I have it on the highest authority that she is the most awesome dog in Indiana, and is only not the most awesome dog in San Francisco because she’s not actually in San Francisco. (And yes, I know that this is the Dogs of San Francisco. But I kin post my girlfriend’s pup if I wanna so there. *ahem*)
Nonetheless, I think you’ll agree that she’s truly awesome, and I hope you’ll join her and me in welcoming Autumn back. We’re likely to see a few pictures from Ireland up here in the next few weeks, if we ask nicely.
Another speed bump! This one a Pekingese.
I took about twenty pictures of this guy, and only one turned out … marginally all right. But I think he’s worth posting a bit of a blurry picture, because… well… look at him. He’s just ridiculous.
He was, in fact, big enough to put his chin on the counter of the pet store and beg for treats. And big enough to go browsing in the allegedly dog-proof barrels of dog treats at said pet store. Although he did not do the latter, being a well-mannered gentleman. And he had a partner who was just about identical in every way.
Edit: I am informed by a usually reliable source that this is in fact a Landseer Newfoundland, and not a English Mastiff.
To make up for the lack of a post yesterday, and the late post today, today’s a double dog day! These two are obviously pretty close friends.
However, after this, the Brittany steadfastly refused to pose for the camera. And the Keeshund really stole the show.
This grand old gentleman (lady?) probably doesn’t deserve quite such a goofy introduction. Sadly (for him, not for us), this is the only shot I have of him.
As always, if this is your dog, or you know anything about him or her, do let us know in the comments.
Here to wish you Merry Christmas are a pair of Cardigan Welsh Corgis! Even though one is muzzled (poor guy) I have met both of these guys several times, and I assure you that they are both friendly, happy dogs.
Leave a Christmas dog story in the comments, if you have one.
One of the reasons I love San Francisco is that the graffiti artists are generally smarter than the advertising agencies.
Today’s random dog pic is a Dachshund basking in the sun. This introduces one of my favorite canine positions, what I like to call the ‘puppy speed bump’. You’ll be seeing more of these, for sure.
As always, if today’s dog is yours, or you think you know anything about it, feel free to pipe up in the comments.
Today’s random dog is a gorgeous blue merle Australian Shepherd, taken outside of the Crossroads Cafe in SOMA. As with all random dogs, if this is yours, or you know whose it is, pipe up in the comments!
