Dog of the Day: Ari the Eurasier

I saw Ari (2) romping around in a little parklet in Mission Bay, and I said, “Wow, is that a Eurasier?” Ari’s dad was quite surprised that I recognized the breed. And honestly so was I, since it’s been around eight and a half years since I saw one!

Uh oh. I took pictures of this pup on the same day I took pictures of yesterday’s pup. And I only got one name down. So… do you think THIS guy is Sky the German shepherd husky malamute? Or yesterday’s? Could be either one!

I ran into Sky at a little noontime concert a couple of weeks ago, and then I ran into Sky again at an after-work ice-cream-social-and-concert a few days later. Sky just likes music, apparently!

Double Dog Day: Sonbahar and Drogon the Anatolian Shepherds

Oh man! Sonbahar (a girl, the name means Autumn) and Drogon (a boy) are two awesome pups! They’re working dogs, livestock guardians and herding dogs for a farm somewhere out there. They’re out there doing work every day, which must be what keeps them so young: they’re 13 and 11, over 100 pounds of muscle apiece, and they’re in amazing shape!

Dog of the Day: Atticus the Giant Schnauzer

Every time I see a pup like Atticus (2) I think ‘There really ought to be more giant schnauzers around’. They’re big enough to be fun to wrestle, they’re smart, they’re not as hyper as some other medium breeds cough golden retriever cough, they’re not quite as, ah, ‘idiosyncratic’ as huskies… I dunno. I just like ’em. If someone offered me one, and an apartment to go with it, I would snap that offer up in a millisecond.
