It’s been raining a lot here this year, aside from February. We’re all pretty glad about it, although it’s not enough to make up for the drought we’ve been having for the past few years.
Well, I say we’re all pretty glad about it, but actually some of us are pretty grumpy, really. This kitty was just sitting in a window and watching the raindrops, and did not seem terribly impressed.
Sleepy kitty. As I walked by she picked up her head and peeked at me, and then she went back to sleep.
Sage is a Pomeranian mix rescue, rescued quite recently in fact. I ran into her and her mom on my way to work, in Huntingdon Park. Well, actually I ran into her mom first, running around the park and calling out, ‘Sage! Sage?’ It seems that this recent rescue was running around the park and maybe got a little lost and ran out of the park, and gave her mom quite a scare.
Of course I immediately had to join the hunt. I jogged some nice circles around the park and wandered up and down several different roads nearby, before some nice gentleman brought her back. I don’t think she’s going to be wandering quite so far in the future.
Neither one seemed at all inclined to separate.
Sweet face! She’s an older girl, I seem to recall 8 or so, but Poms live a long time.
Not a lot of people know this, but when I was in high school I had a couple of different nicknames, and one of them was even a pleasant one: ‘Ace’. I was in a couple of different classes that had ‘trivia quiz’ type dealies, and I was pretty good, though not the best, at them. I got a kick out of it.
And I got a kick out of meeting Ace, too. Look at that face. Look at those ears. This is the first German shepherd border collie mix puppy I’ve run across, though I’ve seen a few adults before. They sure do make the cutest puppies, don’t they?
There’s the collie stare, but most of the rest of him is a shepherd lookalike.
Woody is one of those dogs that I just had to run down the street to see. He just looked so alert, and happy, and playful, and goofy. When his mom told me he was a German shepherd husky mix, it made a lot of sense, given that attitude.
When I got to him, he demonstrated his attitude: he made a lot of noise. He howled. He barked. And he absolutely demanded to be petted. What could I do but oblige?
Look at that face. You can already tell.
Not afraid to stick his nose into basically anything.
That’s a bark.
That’s a howl.
He looked SO smug after he stopped howling. It was hilarious.
I ran into Flash a couple of months ago. His mom was in a hurry but I imposed on her to let me get a few pictures… all of which came out blurry. Happily, a couple weeks ago, I ran into her again, and this time it was a bit brighter, and she was in a bit less of a hurry. And the pictures came out a bit better.
Flash is a ‘hairy hairless Chinese crested’. That’s similar to a powder puff, but a hairy hairless has coarse hair (and a bit less of it). Which doesn’t make Flash any less awesome.
Got a magnificent pose, doesn’t he? He looks like ‘Flash’ fits him well.

I don’t understand how in the world a miniature pincher chihuahua mix ends up with ears that look like that. But then, I don’t know how anything ends up with ears that hysterical. But Mad Max here is just a uniquely gifted little guy, I guess. He’s a cute little 4-month-old puppy who is kind of shy around people, but adventurous exploring the dog park. Not sure how he feels about other dogs, but I’m sure he’ll figure them out soon enough.
Max was not sure what to make of me.
Eventually he decided he didn’t need to make anything of me, and just carefully stayed a few steps away.
A… ladybug. Someone has a dubious sense of humor, I’d say.
I have lashes like that, but they’re due to a glaucoma medication.
I guess ‘Mozart’ must be a reference to Beethoven, huh? Well, I never saw it, but if the Saint Bernard in it was anywhere near as awesome as this guy, well, maybe I should have.
They have such great grins, don’t they?
Someone said to me earlier today that it was slightly disturbing to see a dog with a head bigger than his. Well… NAAAH. Just awesome.
A Catahoula hog dog for you today, or, as we like to say here at the Dogs of San Francisco, a ‘Hula-Hula Cat-Dog’. Cormac is a year and a half old, and is very energetic, as with all Catahoulas. Fortunately he doesn’t require the same level of exercise as some Catahoulas (I seem to recall that being ‘a five mile run every morning and a long walk every evening’). But he’s always up for a few hours of play, pretty much as many times as you like, any day of the week.
A nice early Saturday morning made nicer by a friendly neighborhood pup.
Oh, Lani-Girl, you have the cutest little nose! And ears, and tail, and legs… and, come to think of it, the rest of you is pretty adorable too.
Another speedy puppy! Fortunately it was nice and bright outside, so she wasn’t too blurry.
