Dog of the Day: Pit Bull Puppydog Eyes Of Dooooooom!

I didn’t get this guys name… I was too busy being bowled over by cute.

Blue and White American Pit Bull Terrier

Oh god I should never get a pit bull puppy. I could not resist those puppydog eyes.

And the smooches, too. Pibble-smooches!

Montag Hund: Franklin the German Shepherd/Poodle Mix

How have I never seen a dog of this mix before? How have I never even thought of a dog of this mix before? What an awesome pairing! And Franklin (7 months… still a puppy!) is every bit as awesome as his progenitors would suggest.

He’s developing quite a nice human-style smile. Some dogs do that… they see humans doing it and start showing their teeth when they like you.

My hair used to do that upon occasion. Back when I had hair. But it never looked that good on me.

Another one who was really hard to take pictures of. Because he really wanted me to be petting him instead.

I can just tell that this guy has a great sense of humor. As long as the rest of the family does too, they’re going to get along great.

Dog of the Day: Wiley Coyote the Pomeranian/Chihuahua Mix

I am not sure how this kind of thing happens, but yesterday, the day after I posted a couple of adorable pictures of a scruffy little mixed-breed puplet named Zoey, I ran into a dog that looked almost just like her sort of! And he’s even the same breed mix, minus the dachshund. So cute!

Man with Chihuahua/Pomeranian Mix

He was being uncharacteristically shy that day… wouldn’t let me near him. He’s apparently normally fairly outgoing.

Chuhuahua/Pomeranian Mix

Could be my hat. Not sure why it is, but a surprising number of dogs don’t like my hats. Maybe it makes them think of laid-back ears?

Oh god the ears.

Caturday Supplement: Sleepy Glowy Kittens

It was pretty cold outside when I took this. (Well, cold for San Francisco… in the 40s!) But it was nice and warm in there, and the kittens were sleeping adorably. And glowing!

Two Sleeping Kittens

I got some kitty therapy while I was visiting Autumn’s family’s house, but it has worn off. Need more, stat!

Dog of the Day: Zoey the Pomeranian/Chihuahua/Dachsund Mix

It’s Zoey again! We’ve seen her before, first here and then here. But I would say she’s well worth another visit. So cute!

Mom and Zoey. I would totally go out and have more adventures if I had a Zoey to back me up.

So. Cute.

Dog of the Day: Lucciana (Lucci) the Labrador Retriever Mix

When I took these pictures, Lucci was 8 months old… but that was a couple years ago, so she’s all growed up now.

Black Labrador Retriever Mix With Subtle Brindle Coloration

Very faint brindling there. But I don’t think she’s a pit bull mix. Intriguing.

Black Labrador Retriever Mix With Subtle Brindle Coloration

Kind of a little bit of a sad puppydog thing going on there.

Nose shot!

Half-up ears. Hmm. I guess it could be a pit bull mix…

Dog of the Day: Bodhi the Border Collie/Siberian Husky Mix

Ladies and gentlemen, meet Bodhi. When I took this picture in 2012 (and at least as late as last April) Bodhi was the mascot for OMpower, a yoga/fitness place down in South Beach, not far from where I work (and may still be, though I haven’t seen her in a while). Bodhi is named after a concept in Buddhism, and I have to say, she does seem to have a great intuitive grasp of the essentials.

She is gorgeous, isn’t she?

Someone wanted belly rubs. Don’t worry, she got some soon enough.

Very patient, and very sweet. The perfect yoga dog.

Dog of the Day: Corgi Mix

Maybe? Could be a basset mix too, although with those pointy ears I’d say that’s less likely.

Black and White Corgi Mix

I can’t decide whether that’s an ‘m’ or a ‘3’ on his side. Either way, pretty neat.

Black and White Corgi Mix with Brown Eyes

I wonder if there isn’t some Australian cattle dog in there. He certainly has a bit of ‘the stare’.

Dog of the Day: Small Scruffy Cute Mutt

Not really sure who this is. I have two notes for the day I took this picture. One is ‘Zoe Beast Mode’, which I’m pretty sure isn’t her. The other is ‘Roast chicken sandwich no onions with pickle’ which I’m… almost certain isn’t her.

I do remember her, though. I saw her on a visit to the SF SPCA. But she wasn’t an adoptable dog… she was one that someone working there had taken home. And she was very well trained.

Scruffy Terrier Mix Begging

She apparently just hangs around on the counter, keeping mom company, despite all the distractions inherent in a dog-and-cat-rich environment. Well trained indeed!

(Slightly Late) Dog of the Day: Young Great Dane

Or would he be a Great Young Dane? Whatever he is, he was one of the dogs I got pictures of at the Million Dog March, way back when.

Young Black Great Dane

I recently got the opportunity to wrestle a Great Dane. It is a blast, as long as you choose one who is careful where he puts his nails.

Young Black Great Dane

It was hard to say who was having more fun.
