I got a couple of pictures of Malia with the new camera, and she’s a pretty enough beast that I think she’s worth a second look. And this time, when I asked, her dad said she was a Chow/Samoyed, which makes a lot more sense to me.
Anyway, whatever she is, she’s cute!
Hmm. Looks like her right hind leg was moving when I took this. It was pretty dim outside. Lesson 1: the new camera is a lot better in low-light conditions, but it's not perfect, so don't press your luck.
Rule 2: if it's a cute picture, it doesn't really matter if a leg is blurry. The back half of the dog on the right is another of our old friends, incidentally. I *love* his tail.
No, that’s not an instruction, it’s a name. His name is Chase, and he’s a German shorthaired pointer.
I’m sure he’d be delighted if you chased him for a while, though. He seemed playful enough.

She's so huge, she doesn't even fit in a frame! Also... I guess I might have to put down a thicker mattress cover if I slept with a St. Bernard, huh? Kinda... drooly. Oh well, you take the bad with the good.

This guy was playing an early morning round of fetch with his human. Maybe someday I'll have a dog to do that with. I'm practicing getting up early enough.
Ran into these two in the Russian Hill area. I was told that Malarky (the black one) was Havanese and Chihuahua. I’m not sure I buy it.
They have to be papillon mixes. There is nothing else that is this ridiculous.
So yes, this is Malarky. He's 2.5 years old, and very vigilant, but willing to accept a skritch or two if you don't make any sudden moves.
This one's pretty vigilant too. Two pint-sized guard dogs that induce terror in the ankles of everyone who sees them.

Xena, retriever princess!
We ran into Xena up on Potrero Hill, where we went for dinner.
Xena was playing fetch with her dad, at least until she got a bit distracted.
What a ham.
Well, I’ve had two flat-coats (fuzzier ancestors of modern labrador and golden retrievers) on DoSF before: Hunter and this pup. I’m trying to figure out if the latter one is McCloud, or if he’s a different dog. On the one hand, both are flat-coated retrievers and both have spotty tongues. On the other hand, spotty tongues aren’t unusual in flat-coated retrievers, and the latter pup doesn’t appear to have ears that are nearly as ridiculous as McCloud’s ears.
Anyway, whether McCloud is a repeat customer or not, he’s an awesome fuzzly dog that fully deserves his time in the spotlight today.

See? The most utterly ridiculous ears. I mean, these may even be goofier than Papillon ears.

No real idea what this guy is, but hey, he could be a lab mix. And he’s definitely being hugged by Autumn.
One of those dogs who loves everybody. Which seems reasonable to us: we're two people who love everydog.
