I think of all mastiffs as English, because in every mastiff’s face I see the stereotypical old (and somewhat dyspeptic) Englishman. But here we have our first French mastiff: Sherman.

Well, I don’t know. She looks seriously chow-like to me, but her ears are floppy and her dad thinks she’s a mix. A mix with what? I haven’t the foggiest idea… something with floppy ears, I guess! All I know is, she’s super-cute, and super-friendly, especially for a chow.
I’m leaving Butter as ‘top dog’ for another day, to make sure everyone sees her.
Look at this: two Poms in a row, and now two pits in a row (though this one is only half-pit.) Well, there’s a reason for that: I’m posting Butter today because I just got these pictures, and Butter’s current family is looking for a new home for her. Please, if you know anyone who is looking for a dog, leave a comment (or have them leave a comment) and I’ll put you in touch with her current family. She seems like a real sweetheart, and I can’t think of too many better combinations than lab/pit. (IMO, of course.)
Butter is about three and a half years old... so yes, older than her little friend here. Clearly Butter is good with children, which doesn't surprise me at all: well treated pit bulls are great with kids, and Labs are great with anyone.
Butter next to a full-blooded pit bull. You can see the differences in muzzle/face shape, if you look closely.
From the looks of those eyes, it looks like this pup had a little too much excitement last night! Don’t worry… he’ll be back to normal just as soon as he gets rehydrated.

And, just to mix things up, that’s two Pomeranians in a row! This one is Chopper, a happy 12-year-old pup from the Nob Hill area. I sure hope I have his attitude when I’m as old as he is… relatively speaking, of course.

The white ones always fake me out. Fortunately, I have Autumn to set me straight.
This poor gal was terrified of everyone and everything. She kept edging closer to the curb every time someone walked by, even if they didn’t even look in her direction. Can anyone say ‘rescue dog?’ (Incidentally, she also looks like an Australian Brindle Hound, but apparently those are so rare that it’s pretty unlikely she is one.)

Another disgruntled disciple of King Charles the Spanielhearted! (Two more pictures moved below the break.)
