For some reason, Zoe/Zoey/Zoë/Zooey is one of the more common dog names I’ve seen. Not sure why, but it works for me.
This particular Zoe is a 10-month-old German shorthaired pointer who loves long walks and longer runs.

Poor Finn! Well, maybe not… he sure wasn’t letting it slow him down any.
Finn has an instagram page, ‘finnthetoller‘, whereon you will see OMG RIDICULOUS pictures of Finn. The younger puppy ones are too cute for words, or even inarticulate squeaking sounds.
The picture looks a little weird, kind of like he’s glowing. This is not the camera’s fault. This is what Finn looks like in person, too.
I don’t know this gal’s name, and the dog tags aren’t helping any (unless her name is ‘SF Dog License’) but she’s awesome. I am like 90% sure I’ve taken pictures of her before, and I may even have posted some, but if so I can’t find them.
Edit: Dad weighs in in the comments! She’s a she, she’s Cher, and they think she might be a basset/pit/border collie/lab or something like that. Anyway, I ran into her again recently and she’s just as awesome as I remember.
I first saw Boo way back in 2010. He’s still a charmer, although he had a bit of a handicap in that department when I took these pictures.
Autumn’s mom wanted to give me something for Christmas. She’s a painter, and did a cute little iPhone holster for me a couple of years back, so I suggested another one: I leave one at work, with my belt and shoes, so I can jog in with a very small backpack and shower and change there. So it’d be nice to have one for home.
I only gave her the actual holster at Christmas, so obviously the gift would be a bit belated. But it finally came, and it is awesome.
Another grey and white floofly kitty! I’m spoiling y’all.
Autumn and Charlotte sharing their deepest secrets. Charlotte is 10 months old, and is adorable.
I’ve run into Laszlo (3.5 years old) once before, but only in the dark, so I never managed to get any good pictures, or even see him very clearly. A friend of mine has run into him a couple more times than I have, and he’s her favorite dog in the world. After a look at some pictures, and maybe at his facebook page, I think you’ll be able to figure out why. (Warning: facebook page contains a puppy picture in which Laszlo looks like a raccoon… scroll all the way down.)
This is not the first woolly malamute we’ve seen here. Anyone else remember Mishka?
This is two days in a row that I have posted dogs that I just saw that day, a rarity for me. This time it’s not a tiny puppy, but it is an amazingly nice dog with a great story.
It seems that, back in December of 2010, Dexter and his sister were Macy’s window puppies. Dexter’s sister was adopted, and he was left all alone in the window, where he caught the eye of a woman passing. She hadn’t intended to adopt, hadn’t even been thinking about it, but something about Dexter drew her inside. Where, not to put too fine a point on it, the SPCA volunteers were very dubious, since spur-of-the-moment adoptions all too often result in dogs coming right back to the shelter two months later.
In fact, they were so dubious that they wouldn’t allow her to take Dexter, or even put him on hold until the next day. They kept saying, ‘You need to think about this.’
Well, she went home, and she thought about it, and she went to bed. And when the SPCA office’s opened the next morning (since Dexter had been rotated out of the Macy’s windows) she was there, ready to adopt him. And the rest, from what little I saw, was a match made in heaven. Dexter is a calm, happy, friendly dog, and seemed to know that I needed a little stress relief, which he graciously provided. And his mom obviously dotes on him.
Not shown, unfortunately, is what happened while I was standing there: another dog that looked JUST like Dexter, except fluffier, came up and introduced herself. Apparently Dexter’s sister looked just like him except fluffier, but this pup turned out to be from L.A., so probably not her. Still, they liked each other a lot, and consequently were moving around too fast for me to catch any non-blurry shots in the low light.
Also not shown, also unfortunately, are any shots of Dexter when he was in the Macy’s window. I went back and looked through my pictures from that year, but I didn’t have any of Dexter, although I do have another adoption story from that year.
Anyway, enough talk. Here’s Dexter!
Autumn’s got a nasty cold, and I’m still suffering from a variety of interesting ailments, though fortunately nothing life-threatening. Both of us are badly in need of something, and fortunately, just today, when I slipped out of my office to grab some lunch, I saw that very something.
