Let’s check in on Rocket and see how she’s doing. (Or, at least, how she was doing in mid-April, when I ran into her for the second time… the first time being here.)
Look at the little poof of white at the end of her tail.
That teeny little splotch of pink on the nose is better than a fingerprint for telling her from every other ridiculously adorable mini Aussie puppy out there.
They’re having lots of adventures together. This one is called ‘waiting patiently for the light to change’.
There’s a mix I haven’t heard of before. If they’re lucky, Calvin is as smart and long-lived as a border collie, but as easy-going, cheerful, and happy (and non-neurotic) as a Berner. But, let’s be honest here: no matter what he inherited from which breed, he’s got to be awesome. Because there’s nowhere for him to inherit anything non-awesome from.
I saw Calvin when I was on my way back to work after lunch. And said to my coworker, “You head back… I’ll be a little while.”
Oh boy. With an expression like that, I have to think maybe Calvin (named after Calvin & Hobbes, natch) deserves his name.
But with a smile like that, nobody could possibly stay mad at him.

These two are honorary Dogs of San Francisco, since I took these in New Jersey. But how could I resist? Boo (1 year old) is awe-inspiring, and Maggie (also 1) has so much character in her expression.
Boo is a therapy dog. He gets taken to hospitals and such, and cuddles people back to health. I’m sure the drool helps too.

I ran into them at a street fair. Considering that they were both 1, they were surprisingly calm and polite.

Since I shamefully neglected you on Friday, you get another puppy before puppy week is officially over. Meet Cisco, the 13-week-old Pit Bull/Border Collie mix. If you’re feeling down, Cisco will be your friend.
Cisco REALLY wanted to visit me. Like, he was absolutely dead certain I was going to be his best friend.
I am not sure what’s going on with his ears there.
This is dad saying ‘Come on, SETTLE DOWN!’ Talk about lost causes.
Well, of course he couldn’t stop wiggling. He’s a puppy.

Cisco was a bit intimidated by the boxer, who kind of gave him the cold shoulder.
Boxers can look really stern when they want to.
Cisco is obviously in good hands.
I spent a couple days at a high school reunion in New Jersey a couple weeks ago, and stayed with a friend of mine from high school, Amy Livingston, who runs a blog called ‘Ecofrugality‘… well worth a look if that sort of thing interests you.
She has a cat, too!

We could be wrong about the mix, but we do know why she’s named ‘Baylie’: she was born on New Year’s Eve, on the Bay Bridge. I am not entirely sure how that worked, but it’s an awesome story nonetheless.
I think those ears may be the most hilarious I have ever seen on a dog.
I love that pose. So many dogs can tell who would absolutely love to chase them around in circles if their parents weren’t standing by looking bemused.
I dunno, maybe she’s a lab boxer or something like that. (God those ears.)
Sky and her dad are going to make an unbeatable pair.
Walking down Union Street with something this cute tucked under your arm is a surefire way to get stopped every 3 to 5 feet by squealing people.
Big for 8 weeks, I think? But heck, I’m no vet. If that’s what the vet said, then who am I to argue?
I was in a hurry, but I still wanted him to put her down so I could run around with her for a while. Oh well, maybe I’ll get lucky and see them again.
I heard a little yapping coming from a local jewelry store when Autumn and I and Autumn’s mom (who was visiting the city) were walking by. So Autumn ducked her head in, and squealed a little bit, and it turned out there was a wiggly wiener puppy in there! And an awesome adorable adult dachshund as well.
Indoor pictures and a hyper dog made a bad combination. Still, some came out okay. (Check out the tail-blur!)

Autumn eventually had to hold her still so I could get a couple of pictures. Look at that puppybelly.

Someone seemed just a wee bit disgruntled at how much attention the new puppy was getting.
I’m sure he’ll learn to appreciate her, given a month or two.
No pictures can do justice to Einstein. He is an assistance dog in training at PAWS Training Center in West Chester, PA, for PTSD, and I just know that he is going to be excellent at his job. My stress levels plummeted as soon as I saw him.
By the way, PAWS seems to be a really great organization, from what I can see. Not exactly convenient to visit from the Bay Area (I ran into Einstein while I was visiting New Jersey) but they might be worth a look, if you’re looking for a worthy charity. They provide assistance dogs to people for free, but they currently have a three-year waiting list.

I have never seen any dog do the puppydog eyes as well as Einstein, aside from a few bulldog puppies.

Yes, that fur is just as soft as you think it is.
I ran into Einstein twice, actually. Once when he was on-leash, and once in a dog run, where he was enjoying having a ball.
