Dog of the Day: Justice the Weimaraner

Justice is an 8-year-old Weimaraner, and one with his own twitter feed: @soojustice, apparently. (Don’t ask me to link you… I haven’t joined the Twitteers or whatever it is they call themselves just yet, so I have no idea how any of that works.)

[edit: Three more pictures, moved below the fold.]

Weimaraner

Justice is a very serious-looking dog.

Double Dog Day: Foxy the German Shepherd/Shiba Inu/Australian Cattle Dog mix (?) and Golden Friend

Well, that’s what Dad thinks she is, and I’m not going to argue. She does look a fair bit like a Shiba Inu, certainly, only a lot closer in size to a German shepherd. And she has recently acquired a squeaky toy, as you will see, and she is totally as obsessed with the thing as any Australian cattle dog could ever be. So it’s not a bad guess.

Her friend, obviously, is about as golden a retriever as ever retrieved.

[edit: stuck four more pictures below the fold.]

Golden Retriever and Very Mixed Breed

If you look closely, you can see that Foxy has something in her mouth. That's her new squeaky toy.

Dog of the Day: Herbie the Adoptable Rottweiler Mix

I admit it, these pics aren’t great even by my low standards, but I wanted to post some pictures of Herbie just in case anyone’s looking for a pup to adopt. He’s super-sweet and gentle, and even managed to lick my hand despite the floral print muzzle he was wearing. (Dogs have to be muzzled on MUNI, so it’s nothing personal.)

If you like his looks, check him out at Muttville, where he is listed as ‘Herbie 2‘.

Trying something new today: both pictures are above the fold, and I’ll put the second one from today below the fold tomorrow when I post a new one. Why? Because of the 50 to 100 people who visit my web site every day (hi!) more than 95% of you only visit the front page. I was putting things below the fold in the hopes that people would comment more, but instead it just meant that nobody was seeing them, so I’m giving in to the inevitable. Please do comment if you have a mind to, though. [And now, a day later, I’ve added the jump/fold/break/thingie, below. We’ll see how the new method works out.]

Rottweiler Mix

Among other things, Herbie is a total ham, and one of the most photogenic dogs I've ever seen.

And here’s the jump. Below it is the second picture.

Dog of the Day: Labrador Retriever Mix

I don’t know where the up ears came from, but the rest of him looks pretty labbish to me.

One more picture after the break. I think I’ll probably be typing a bit less than usual for the next week or so, since I have a finger in a splint. Hopefully it’ll be okay by a week from now.

Black Labrador Retriever Mix

Super-pretty dog in a really nice bandana. We should really have a Dogs in Bandanas tag.

Dog of the Day: Roxanne the German Shepherd Mix

This is the pup that belongs to a coworker of mine named Beau, who is the gentleman in the stripey shirt there. This summer, he brought her along to the company picnic, which is where I got these pictures.

Another goofy pup picture, after the break.

All together now... one, two, three... AWWWWWW!

Dog of the Day: A Very Relaxed Poodle

…with a spotty belly!

A second, equally relaxed picture, after the break.

Poodle

She looks totally blissed out. Lucky pup: I have to pay a lot of money to get a massage that makes me look like that.

Dog of the Day: Chihuahua/Pomeranian (?)

Just a guess. This little pup was at a micro-adoption-fair thingie when I walked by, and was being all bold and looking up and barking at people and sticking her tongue out and wagging and stuff, and then you’d put your hand down near her and she’d suddenly get all shy. So cute!

A few more pictures after the break.

Chihuahua/Pomeranian Mix

The ears, and the white poofly chest, are awfully cute. The dubious expression is simply ridiculous.

Dog of the Day: Jack Russell Terrier Mix

I had to go back and look at my old photos, but sure enough… I think we’ve seen this guy before. And in this case, at least, that’s surprising to me, since it was in two totally different neighborhoods, and both times he was carefully guarding a panel truck.

Sorry about the reflection of the outdoor cafe in the window.

Dog of the Day: A Hung-Over French Bulldog in a Necktie

Haven’t we all, at one time or another, felt this way on the way in to work in the morning? Or in this guy’s case, in the afternoon? (He apparently works at a bar along Market Street west of Van Ness.)

Several more pictures, all pretty hung-over, after the break.

The red-rimmed, bloodshot eyes... the annoyed 'I don't see you, don't talk to me' stare...

Dog of the Day: Widget the Pit Bull Mix Puppy

Ran into this little cutie near the Ferry Building on the way to work last week. She is in foster care, and her mom was bringing her in to the city to be socialized, but nobody was fawning over her. Terrible! Fortunately, I was there to make a fool of myself and have my face licked like a good socializer.

If anyone reading this knows anyone who is looking for a pup to adopt, I highly recommend Widget. Drop a note in the comments and I’ll see if I can figure out how to get in touch with her foster mom.

American Pit Bull Terrier Mix Puppy

She was super-hyper! Only one of my other pictures came out non-blurry, and it's basically identical to this one, so one is all you get today.
