Dog of the Day: Reilly the Lakeland Terrier Puppy

Reilly is a new breed for us, and a pretty unusual one in general: a Lakeland terrier. In the pictures he was 5 months old, and a typically curious pup.

It was next to impossible to get him to sit, let alone stay seated.

Cream Lakeland Terrier Puppy Howling

He had a bit of the howling gene, too. Awooo!

This was a much more typical posture… trying very had to lick me.

Dog of the Day: Dave the Pembroke Welsh Corgi

This is the first Dave we’ve had on the blog, and guess what: he’s a she! I didn’t get an explanation of the name, I was too busy goggling at the one-year-old cuteness of it all.

I ran into her right outside the Macy’s puppy window display.

Dave, like all corgis, is a kid magnet.

Unlike in the hovertext, Dave was actually quite eager to meet all of them.

Sunday Switchup: Ha, Yes!

Little history lesson: so it turns out that in 1906 there was this little shake-up in the City by the Bay. And they discovered that it was quite difficult to navigate through the streets of a completely demolished city by the street signs (which had mostly fallen down) and the landmarks (which had mostly burnt down, fallen over, and/or sank into the swamp). So when they rebuilt, they started engraving the names of every street on its every corner.

Sometimes you find unexpectedly funny ones. There are the occasional typo. And sometimes Hayes Street seems to become a bit of a smartass.

Dog of the Day: Panko the Teensy Little Shiba Inu Puppy

Panko is 3 months old, and this was her first day at work! And this was the closest thing I got to a good picture, because Panko was fascinated with all the smells. She only took time off from sniffing for treats and for getting belly rubs.

Look at that floof. That is some of the highest-quality floof I have ever seen.

Triple Dog Day: Molly, Loki, and Harley (Harlequin) the Siberian Huskies

Some of the pups from yesterday’s dog convention. Molly is the white one, and Loki and Harley are the other two, who we’ve seen before. (Loki is the one with one brown eye.)

No hovertext, no captions, just a bunch of cute pictures.

QUINTUPLE Dog Day: Convention!

A gaggle of huskies, plus one golden retriever. had a little convention. I’ve met all but one of them before, but seeing them all in one place was kind of impressive.

Of course, it’s even more impressive when you’re surrounded by them. Preferably on your knees and collecting smooches.

Dog of the Day: Cooper the Australian Shepherd Mix Puppy

Can you believe Cooper is only 9 months old in this picture? He can.

Another pup that looks like he was put together out of spare parts.

Caturday Supplement: Kitty Milk

I got Autumn’s kitties something for Christmas: a very thoroughly de-lactose-ated milk that is especially for cats. It’s not something they’re supposed to have every day, but it’s fine for them occasionally.

Apparently it was a hit.

Double Dog Day: Chloe and Ruby the Coton de Tulears

Chloe (front, 5) and Ruby (back, 3) are half-sisters: they have the same dad. But Chloe is from Barcelona and Ruby is from Budapest. Apparently their human father went to great lengths to find Chloe a sister.

They have a lot of fun together.

They’re apparently an attention magnet wherever they go.

I asked if they could ride the skateboards themselves. The response was ‘Legs too short.’

Dog of the Day: Indy the Mexican Hairless Puppy

It was Indy’s first day in the city, and he was only 5 months old in the first place, so I don’t blame him for being a little skittish and staying away from me. Maybe I’ll get luckier next time I see him.

Like I said, Indy was a little skittish around me. This resulted in a certain amount of difficulty.

He certainly wasn’t shy with his dad.

He only even looked in my direction a few times.
