Caturday Supplement: Stripey Ginger

I ran into this kitty when I was down in Monterey. She was quite friendly, and seemed pretty disappointed when I stopped petting her to take some pictures.

I love marmalade tiger tabbies. Always put me in mind of Calvin & Hobbes.

A very subtle way of hinting that she wants more petting, huh?

A car came by and she decided she wasn’t that interested after all. Bye, kitty!

Dog of the Day: Lexi the Miniature Schnauzer

Lexi is a 3-year-old miniature schnauzer. And you know what they say about schnauzers, right?

This was a first for me: I stopped Lexi’s mom because she had a cute dog, and we ended up talking local St. Paddy’s Day Irish music shows. Just goes to show!

Dog of the Almost Birthday: Nookie the Mini American Eskimo Dog

I ran into Nookie, pronounced New-Key, yesterday, when he turned 2 years old. And then I didn’t get home until 11 PM (went to a great concert in Berkeley!). So Nookie gets TWO birthday celebrations, one yesterday, at home, and one today, here!

Dog of the Day: Sarah the German Shepherd Australian Cattle Dog Mix

Sarah! I know it’s hard to believe from this picture, but Sarah is old enough to apply for a learner’s permit in California! (For those of you from out of state, that makes her 15 years old!)

Australian Cattle Dog German Shepherd Mix
I think she’d make a careful, sensible driver. And her reflexes are still pretty sharp!

Dog of the Day: Kirby the Sheep-a-Doodle

I don’t know if Kirby (f, 2) is named after the vacuum, but I have to say that that would be a great name for a lot of dogs I’ve known.

Young Small White Sheepadoodle
I saw Kirby and I instantly said ‘wow, is that a sheepadoodle?’ I dunno how, it’s something in the eyes.

A lot of the doodles are pretty hard to tell apart.

Dog of the Day: Watson the Basset ‘Something’ Mix

Watson is almost definitely a basset hound mix, but I’m not really sure what else he is. He almost reminds me of a Chesapeake bay retriever, or a toller, or something like that. And he looks a little bit like Marco, but a little bit less shaggy, so maybe even Brittany spaniel? Damn, I dunno. I just know he looks like the kind of dog I’d like to spend an evening watching old Hill Street Blues episodes and sharing a bowl of popcorn with.

Dog of the Day: Impatient Dutch Shepherd

Someone was making an awful lot of noise today…

Dog of the Day: Roxanne the Wire-Haired Mini Dachshund

Roxanne (3) may or may not have to put on the red light, but she definitely has the tunes: she’s the store dog at Open Mind Music. Although I must say, their web site has a page called ‘The Curator’ but that page doesn’t have any information about Roxanne, so clearly the page is not up to date. On the other hand, their Instagram page (@open_mind_music) is up to date: there’s at least one cute picture of Roxy on there.

Dog of the Day: Peixe the Standard Poodle

Peixe (girl, 3) isn’t even all that fond of water, particularly. I’m not 100% sure where she got her name, but whatever, it’s pretty cute, and she is too!

Small Black Standard Poodle
Black dogs in the sun are absolute murder to photograph. At least in this one you can see her eyes. If you look hard.

Dog of the Day: Max the Exceptionally Foofly Norwich Terrier

Max is going to be turning 2 in a week or so, and his name might well be short for Maximally Fluffy.

Norwich Terrier With Two Balls
It was wild, watching him sprinting across the grass. Floof flying out in all directions.
