Dog of the Day: Zamoni the Taiwanese Whatchamapup

Zamboni! Zamboni is an adorable import: made in Taiwan in 2013, of 100% recycled parts. Or something like that.

I seem to recall Zamboni not being entirely comfortable with strangers, and this body language bears that out.

Dog of the Day: Tiberius (aka Tibby) the Cavalier King Charles Spaniel Poodle Mix

I have been sitting on Tiberius for a few weeks (no not literally sheesh stop that), and it’s utterly inexcusable. He is one of Autumn’s customers, and is ridiculously sweet and adorable and sharp-toothed.

Unfortunately I haven’t been able to come up with any good hovertext or captions for this many pictures on this very uninspired night, so you’re going to have to suffer with just pictures of this puppy. Poor you!

Dog of the Day: Long-Haired Chihuahua

This is yesterday’s pup’s sibling. Much older sibling. Much older and grumpier and savaged Autumn’s hand when she went to take care of him sibling. First time Autumn’s had one of her charges draw blood on her (aside from puppy-bites, puppy-scratches, and kitten-scratches) since she started working with animals.

Yes. He is a grump.

Which to be fair is stressful even for humans, who know what is happening, and usually why.

Still, that’s no reason to take it out on Autumn, you naughty pup.

Dog of the Day: Papillon Puppy

Autumn and I went by to visit a pair of potential clients of hers (and, naturally, the potential customer, a.k.a. the clients’ owner) a while back. One was a somewhat shy puppy and the other was an extremely grumpy old papillon. This is the puppy, whose name has slipped my mind.

Caturday Supplement: Kitty in a Window

I’ve posted this kitty — the one who occasionally sleeps in the window of Bow Wow Meow — before. But I quite liked the image of these two sharing the… facilities.

Dog of the Day: Munchkin the Bernese Mountain Dog

The only way I could get Munchkin to stop moving around for long enough for me to get a non-blurry shot was to pet her until she leaned against my leg hard enough to keep me from moving, and then hold out the other hand with the camera and aim at random. Fortunately, I seem to have gotten lucky.

Munchkin has only fifteen toes! She had to have one amputated when she was young. You can just tell how traumatized it left her from that haunted look in her eyes.

I have taken pictures of this pup before, apparently back in 2012, but I’m not sure I ever posted them. I am such a bad person!

Dog of the Day: Indi the Saluki

I am saving more Paddington pics, because I want to post them as pic/video combos and it is soon going to be much easier to do so. Instead I would like you to meet Indi Al Jamal Bella the saluki (2 years old, Indi for short.) Indi is not only gorgeous, she has one of the coolest stories of any dog I’ve ever posted. Instead of me trying to retell it, let’s just go with what her parents emailed me, word for word:

Indi Al Jamal Bella of Zekreet was found in an abandoned fishing village in Qatar by a Greek microbial biologist and her black lab/border collie service dog from Tennessee.

Her paws and tail had been dipped in henna, which is done to racing dogs. We’re not sure how she ended up in the abandoned fishing village.

While the microbial biologist wanted to keep Indi, she travels a lot as a consultant for Cornell. She reached out to some friends, a retired Canadian nurse and her American husband, to foster her. They took her for a few months and then contacted Desert Hound Express to help find a forever home since they travel for the hottest months of the year.

We found her via the dhex website. We Skyped with her so we could kind of meet her. We were in love. A few weeks later a wonderful couple flying to Boston from Qatar took Indi along with them as a flight buddy to Chicago. We also flew to Chicago and waited for Indi to come out. She was so jet lagged and excited to see all the grass.

The next morning Indi flew back to the Bay Area with us. She’s the life of the party.

Her parents also instantly ingratiated themselves to me by say ‘Oh wow I know that blog, you posted a saluki on there and I was like wow there ARE other salukis in the Bay Area!’

So there you have it. A racing saluki from Qatar ends up in San Francisco by means of a Greek microbial biologist, a Tennessee black lab/border collie, a Canadian nurse, and a small army of other people. It’d make a great movie.

The body language looks a little standoffish, but she wasn’t.

Dog of DOOM: Paddington Again!

Is there no one who can put a stop to the reign of Paddington??

Pembroke Welsh Corgi Puppy Licking Woman's Face

Just in case you thought maybe all the affection went in one direction. We got plenty of smooches from Paddington.

I could just sit and watch this dog for hours. Well, I could sit and watch any dog for hours, but with this one I would probably miss a meal or two and not even notice.

Dog of the Day: More Pad-Pad-Paddington!

Because everyone needs more Paddington in their lives, especially on tax day.

And, as I suspected, there is more Paddington still to come. Heck, there might be enough Paddington for this entire week. Would you be sorry? I wouldn’t.

There are few faces that can express joy so thoroughly as a cuddled corgi puppy’s can.

Dog of the Day: Oh Good Lord You Must Be Kidding Me (Part 1)

So, you remember on Saturday I said the kitty had a canine brother? Well, meet Paddington, the 16-week-old Pembroke Welsh corgi. I can’t even come close to doing him justice in just one day. I took hundreds of pictures of him and most of them turned out good, so I’m just going to pick some for today and some for tomorrow and heck, maybe even some more for Wednesday. Trust me, you won’t be disappointed.
