Dog of the Day: Oh Good Lord You Must Be Kidding Me (Part 1)

So, you remember on Saturday I said the kitty had a canine brother? Well, meet Paddington, the 16-week-old Pembroke Welsh corgi. I can’t even come close to doing him justice in just one day. I took hundreds of pictures of him and most of them turned out good, so I’m just going to pick some for today and some for tomorrow and heck, maybe even some more for Wednesday. Trust me, you won’t be disappointed.

Sunday Switchup: Another Airport Therapy Animal

Some of you may remember that I posted a member of the ‘Wag Patrol’, which is a group of therapy dogs who wander the San Francisco Airport calming down those who are anxious about flying.

Well, I say ‘a group of therapy dogs’, but as it happens, that’s no longer an inclusive enough term. LiLou joined their ranks last year, complete with adorable painted toenails. I knew she lived in the neighborhood but I have never been lucky enough to run into her until last week. Even then, alas, the lighting was kind of crappy, but it was just too good an opportunity to miss. I guess she is hypoallergenic, and although quite a few people have dog phobias, almost nobody’s got a pig phobia. And hey, how on earth could you be afraid of that face?

Petting her is a novel experience, but not at all unpleasant. And she seems to quite like it too.

Caturday Supplement: Bob-Tail Cat

This is not just any bob-tail cat. This is the feline brother of a certain dog that you will be seeing shortly. The two share a certain lightness in the tail department, and very friendly dispositions.

I didn’t catch the kitty’s name, alas.

He had a nice little shelf in front of the window to lounge on. I need to get me one of those.

My favorite kind of kitty. Aloof for… roughly 15 seconds.

A Tail of Two Peppers, Part 2: Pepper the German Shepherd Husky Mix

So, yesterday (shh, I know it was two days ago, just pretend with me) I posted an adorable male 5-year-old German shepherd mix named Dr. Pepper. So today may I introduce Pepper, an adorable female 1.5-year-old German shepherd mix. And yes, she doesn’t have her doctorate yet, but come ON, she’s only ten and a half in human years!

In the immortal words of Peter Venkman, “Oh, we have to get these two together.”

Come to think of it, the response, “I think that would be extraordinarily dangerous,” might also apply. Tails flying everywhere, bruised knees galore.

Look at the markings on her chest. Lovely.

A little of the same stare, although not quite as intense.

I’m serious. We need to get these two together.

A Tail of Two Dogs, Part One: Dr. Pepper the German Shepherd Lab Mix

This is the first of a tale of two dogs: meet Dr. Pepper, the German shepherd Labrador retriever maybe mix, age 5. Note his alert expression, his lovely eyes. Especially note his magnificent, foofly tail. Remember them for tomorrow. There will be a quiz.

Dr. Pepper lives right near me, so I get to meet him at the bus stop regularly. Yay!

With a stare like that, there might be some border collie in there too.

I am informed that there are a few pictures of Dr. Pepper around in a mortarboard hat, from when he graduated top of his class from puppy obedience school. And that he hated the hat. Which makes me want to see the pictures even more.
