Saw this from the street and just had to wander in for some pictures. Dozer (2, male) is the pub dog of the Fireside Lounge in Alameda. Or, at least, that’s what the human in the pictures told me.
This is exactly what I saw from the street as I walked by.
Settling into a comfier position. For both of them, I suspect.
He’s a handsome devil.
He’s got a golden retriever style head-bump, but I doubt he’s half golden. Could be a quarter, I guess.
Lucky is lucky, but I’m not: I ran into him at the wrong time, and all my pictures came out too contrasty to see him well. But this one was too funny not to post.
Another vicious pit bull. I was terrified, I tell you, terrified.
I’ll be live-tweeting (I can’t believe I said that) tomorrow at 10 AM, with @TheHipmunk and @DogVacay, about taking your pets on vacation. Now all I need is a vacation, and a pet to take on it!
This is from the same day that Autumn and I saw the puppy social. We went to brunch at a local watering hole (Town’s End Restaurant and Bakery, which is totally awesome though it’s a bit of a pain in the butt for us to get to for brunch so we don’t go often). Out front at one of the tables we caught sight of a cat carrier, and I thought, ‘ooh, I wonder if I can get a caturday supplement if I ask nicely?’
Nope. It wasn’t a cat. It was an 11-week-old labradoodle puppy, who couldn’t come out and romp around because he hadn’t gotten all his shots yet. Fortunately his people took him out to meet us, and we made all the appropriate squealing noises, some so high-pitched that only Pickles could hear them.
Incidentally, this is not the first Pickles I’ve met. And that one was a puppy too.
As soon as he came out of the carrier I knew we were going to have a star on our hands.
*melt*
Pickles was amazingly gentle for such a young pup: super sharp teeth but he never bit down hard enough to make me the slightest bit uncomfortable.
I could’ve played with him all day. Don’t think he would have minded either.
If you even look like you going to START to take your hand away he gives you that look.

He’s big for 11 weeks. Bet he grows up to be one of those huge-mongous labradoodles.
He would make such an awesome muppet.
I really hope I run into Pickles again. I want to see what he looks like as he grows up.
Autumn and I dropped by the SPCA on Saturday to drop off some donations, and we ran into a puppy social class getting out. The cute was spectacular.

Autumn got a few smooches.
So I guess Obama was driving up to the top of Nob Hill to do a thing with some people. There were literally a hundred policemen scattered around the area, and this 25 or so took off while I was standing there. This is less than 1/2 mile from my house.
I’ve seen the security precautions around at least six different presidential visits since I moved here, but I’ve never actually seen the president, or his vehicle.
There were at least 100 SF Sheriff’s Department cops and a bunch of California Highway Patrol officers too.
I catsat these two recently for an ex-coworker of mine. They were actually both quite pleasant to me, except for one thing: part of the job was ‘cram a pill down each of their throats every morning’. Shockingly, that went great the first day, even though I’d never done it before. Not only wasn’t it traumatic for me, it apparently wasn’t for the cats either, since Moose treated me the same friendly way after as he had before, and Mimi actually warmed up to me after I ‘pilled’ her. But the second day didn’t go quite so well. Fortunately all of my war wounds healed without infection.
Moose is large. He’s roughly the size a Maine coon would be if you gave one a crew cut.
Moose is a super-friendly beastie, though.
She doesn’t look like it, but thirty seconds before this shot was taken she was butting her head against my hand and demanding to be petted.

I thought Zoe was a puppy, but apparently she’s just a very small English bulldog. Also a very tired one. Well, it’s been a long week for a lot of us.
She was too pooped even to pay attention to the food on the table.

Even as young as he is (3 months), Milo has a career path all picked out: antidepressant. It’s impossible to be near him without being perked up.

I have a half dozen pictures of Milo shaking himself. I’m going to rotate through them as my home computer background for a while, I find them endlessly amusing.
Wednesdays are ‘work late’ days for me at the moment: work provides us dinner, and we stay a little later. Means that I often get home feeling about like this gal did when I ran into her, though. (‘Band’ isn’t a kind or color of dog, nor is it her name… she was part of a band that was performing at a street fair. I’m sure she was a great backup singer when she wasn’t so sleepy.)
Yes, she is entirely white except one brown ear and a brown spot over the opposite eye. Yes, this is adorable.
