Yippie! Yappy Yorkies! This fellow was stuck in traffic, so I wandered up and asked if he minded if I took a couple pictures, and he didn’t. However, I didn’t have time for an extended conversation, so I didn’t get names, ages, or life stories. Sorry about that!
Fortunately, they didn’t seem to be hyper enough to try climbing out.
I am pretty sure that’s one of the three from the front seat, who then scrambled into the back. I might be wrong though.
A public service announcement for y’all: a kind woman found this pit bull wandering around in the Nob Hill area. I didn’t recognize her, although something about her tickles my memory. She looks like she’s quite young, but she also may have had puppies before.
The woman said she’d take the dog to Pets Unlimited and get her checked for microchips, and depending on what she finds I may get an update. In the mean time, if anyone knows who belongs to this fine sweet slightly shy and skittish (and who can blame her in the circumstances) but mostly just adorable and friendly dog, please let me know in the comments!

A little late for Christmas, but I thought this was funny so I’m going to post it anyway. It’s from a Thai restaurant directly across the street from where I work, Koh Samui and the Monkey.
Seems kind of… ominous, when they put it that way, doesn’t it? Plus, the nutcracker next to it… I dunno.
Sometimes I wander into Macy’s while they’re having their puppies and kittens display outside. There’s a room inside that has a bunch of kittens in KITTY JAILS where you can get a little closer to the action, although they aren’t quite as holiday-festive.
Look at those toes. Teeny kitten toe niblets.
This kitty was quite playful but had not quite learned to put away the claws and teeth when playing with humans.
Too bad, too… I totally wanted to pet him.
Cat expressions are hard for humans to read. Half-closed eyes like this mean ‘I don’t think of you as a threat’ or even ‘maybe we should be friends?’
One of the dogs of SF that keeps me honest. This guy was sitting in the doorway of one of the shops on Valencia Street, and I stopped and took a few pictures of him as I was passing by. Then I reached out to say hello/let him sniff me, and he gave a little exasperated ‘huff!’ and got up and walked into the shop. The woman who was working there said, “That’s funny, he [or she, I forget] never usually does that.”
I’m pretty sure that’s an Airedale, just with some impressively long fur.
A favorite breed of Autumn’s and mine, and an amazingly sweet dog: who better to be our 2015 dog of New Year’s Day? Kona is 2, and spreads good cheer wherever he goes.
Berners have such expressive faces. And what they’re usually expressing is “HAPPY HAPPY HAPPY!”

A puppy, eight months old. He’s a ‘maltie-poo’. Which just sounds wrong, but who am I to judge? Anyway, Bandit is max dorbs, as a friend of mine would say.
Dad was inside a store and had just come back out. Bandit’s expression says it all.
Ran into these two outside my favorite cheese shop, Cheese Plus.
Bandit is a dog that knows how far smooches will take him, and gives them at every opportunity.

I ran into these two in the airport a week ago. Bully is six months old, and is anything but a bully, and Oliver is a goofy 1-year-old. They’d never met before but they were great friends by the time we all boarded the plane.
A very canine greeting. I love the expression.

I made a few funny noises and Bully gave me the adorable puppy head-tilt. “Baroo?”
Cassidy is floofily adorable. She’s about 13-ish, and is a husky mix, possibly with some golden retriever and/or Australian shepherd. She’s a real sweetheart, and she’s undergoing chemo right now, so everyone send good thoughts her way!
I ran into her in a Goodwill, which seemed an appropriate place for a dog with so much good-will.
She does have a bit of a dubious expression sometimes, though.

A seal ion for your Sunday delectation. This fine lass was vacationing in the friendly and welcoming facilities of the Marine Mammal Center. She looks like she’s doing pretty well: decent weight, healthy-looking fur. She’ll probably get kicked out soon enough, but for now she’s enjoying the facilities and all the fish she can eat.
I love the spot on the top of the head. Looks like she’s wearing a little yarmulke!
