(MDM = Million Dog Marcher, of course!)
I saw Chase just about first thing when I got to the march, and I didn’t even have my camera out at the time. Snapped a couple quick photos with my phone, and then promptly forgot his name. And then, while I was poking through the facebook photos from the MDM, I thought I saw someone who looked a little familiar…
There was a line of people waiting for a chance to pet Chase. And no wonder.
I went to the Million Dog March today, and it was pretty awesome! I’m not convinced it was much bigger than Bay to Barkers, but it was a whole lot of dogs, and the vast majority of them were awesome. (Those that weren’t awesome? Were super-aweseome.)
Going to be posting dogs from there periodically over the next few weeks, but I thought I’d start you off on a high note, with a four-month-old golden retriever puppy. So cute!
I think this may have been this pup’s first big doggie-event. He was having a BLAST.
He was going around LOOKING at everyone. You could tell who was human and who wasn’t: the ones who didn’t instantly melt weren’t human.
See? How could you not melt?
Methinks someone overdid it a little bit last night on the egg nog.
Reminder: the MILLION DOG MARCH is tomorrow! Come be part of the biggest dog walk in the history of humanity! How could you say no to that?
I haven’t gotten to pet a cat in some time. I will have to see if I can rectify this omission.
We may have had a Eurasier before, but that was a rescue, who might also just have been a rescue who looked an awful lot like one. Bear is definitely a 9-month-old Eurasier. They are a gorgeous breed. I knew that I was going to have trouble taking pictures (it was quite dark outside) but I just had to try, because he was so pretty.
Apparently Eurasiers were bred from chow, wolfspitz, and samoyed. I would have guessed there was keeshond in there somewhere. (Aannnd… I just found out that wolfspitz is an old name for a earlier version of the keeshond. So yup!)
Oh lordy. This fine fellow was tied to the next parking meter over from yesterday’s pup, but the two were ignoring one another. I was definitely unable to ignore either of them, but I must admit, this guy got the lion’s share of the attention.
I assure you, however big he looks in the pictures, he looks even bigger in person.
You could tell the dog people from the non-dog-people. The latter were walking around him as far away as possible; the former were walking right up to him with an awed expression on their faces.
You can guess which group I fall into.

Husky mix, maybe? I’ll see if I can get Autumn to weigh in on this one. He was quite friendly, but very loud.
He kind of has a little bit of the ‘Mad-Eye Mooney’ thing going on, doesn’t he?
Cade was out skateboarding with his dad (well, dad was on the skateboard and Cade was running alongside, and occasionally pulling him) while I was taking a break from my weekend dogsitting duties. And oh my god I had to stop and say hello because this 5-month-old ball of ridiculous cuteness was just utterly irresistible.
As I was walking away, Cade reached over with one paw and gave dad’s skateboard a shove and it sailed off towards me. And then he sat back and grinned. I could almost see the thought bubble over his head. ‘FETCH!’
Look at that expression. You can tell living with him would be a one surprise after another.
Those ears.
Awww… and that’s the face that would make me forgive just about any ‘surprise’ he could cook up.
Goofy husky grin. Okay, I’m sold, where do I pick up mine?
This dog-sitting thing is hard work. Especially when you’re dog-sitting two gigantic snorgly goofhounds, one of whom just wants to stay home and sleep and occasionally have her butt scratched, and the other of whom wants to run and play and eat everything not nailed down and some things that are.
I’m ready for a vacation from this vacation!
Took Jemma to the dog park. She didn’t want to stay for too long, but she did get in some solid playtime with this pit bull puppy.
Jemma proved a couple times that she could fit most of his head in her mouth.
I’m not sure what this guy is. Did a quick look online but didn’t see any obvious candidates.
Edit: I am informed by the experts at Reddit that this is a ‘variable checkerspot caterpillar‘. Which is awesome, since I have always thought those butterflies are gorgeous.
Have you ever watched a caterpillar walk? It’s fascinating. I could watch one (and have) for fifteen minutes at a time.
Lazy post today, since I’m writing a (non-dog-related) post for another blog this evening. Found this pup a couple weeks back. Good training! Mom or dad just put the leash down and the dog stayed right where he was left. Saying ‘hello’ to all the passers-by, but not following them at all.
The blue tile is very distinctive, and I know I’ve seen it a thousand times. Now if I could only remember where.
