She’s not really a ‘dog of San Francisco’ since I ran into her at the Sebastopol Celtic Music Festival, where I spent my weekend. But she’s definitely a ham, so she’s well worth an extra post.
With parents like a Pembroke and a Red Heeler, one might think this guy would be a gregarious tripping hazard to everyone around him. Sadly, he is a rescue dog who was pretty badly taken care of in his former home. He’s just starting to learn to trust again, and is fine with the family but very nervous around strangers.
Four more pictures, including two happy ones, after the break.
A light post tonight, because I just got back from a concert and it’s already almost 2 AM. It took me 2 hours to get there, and an hour and a half to get back, and the concert lasted just over three and a half hours with a half-hour break. Which means there was more driving than concert. Plus I got two vaccinations and had blood drawn today, and am having some kind of allergic reaction to (probably) one of the vaccines.
And it was all worth it. Having Lunasa and Martin Hayes & Dennis Cahill on the same stage in the same night… well, it’s like having the faces of both Jesus AND the Virgin Mary burned into the same piece of toast.
I’m sorry, that may have been somewhat tasteless. But anyway, you get the idea.
So here. Have a cute pup for the evening, and I’m going to sleep. Just the one picture.
There were just too many breeds for these two to put in the subject line today. Blix is an Australian shepherd/border collie mix, and Nani is an English springer spaniel/Labrador retriever mix. When they were puppies, they spent a lot of time together, and everyone thought they were siblings because they looked so alike, even though they are totally different mixes.
Sadly, none of the pictures of the two of them together came out, so you’ll have to live with one picture of each of them before the break, and another picture of each of them after the break.
I met a woman at the farmer’s market at the San Francisco ferry building who was out with her assistance dog. Apparently someone had come up to her earlier that day and gave her dog some jewelry, pretty much at random. I suppose it was intended to go in a human being’s hair, but it looks pretty nice where it is.
Another picture after the break.
I always felt a little sorry for bulldogs. Why do they deserve to remind everyone of Richard Nixon everywhere they go? Lucky for this little gal, so far she’s kept the Nixon resemblance to an absolute minimum.
Two more non-Nixonic pictures, after the break.
These two seemed to get along just fine, despite the fact that they’re so different that they might as well be two different species.
Another picture after the break.
No, really. She’s young (only 4 months old!) and American (she was born in the USA, just like Bruce Springsteen) and half-sheep, half-dog… er, I mean, she’s an Old English Sheepdog.
