Caturday Supplement: Marmie in a Window

It’s still Caturday, so there’s still time for me to post this. If I do it REALLY FAST.

Marmalade Cat

Handsome kitty. Wish I had a cat waiting for me in the window when I got home.

Dog of the Day: Pretty Darn Great Dane

Y’know, I’ve seen some Danes in my time, and I’m gonna have to say that, as Danes go, this guy is pretty darn great.

Just one picture today, since it’s Friday, it’s been a long week, and I am tired. If you’re good, I might have a caturday supplement for you tomorrow morning.

Great Dane on a Park Bench

I'm not sure it comes through in this picture, but this guy looked surprisingly comfy sitting there.

Dog of the Day: Taedyn the Shiloh Shepherd/Pack Mule mix

[Edit: Changed the breed to reflect the note in the comments. I’d never heard of a Shiloh Shepherd before, but there’s a first time for everything.]

I just ran into this gal this morning, but I thought she was so awesome that I just had to post her today.

I was walking down the street, and I saw something up ahead. And I said to myself, ‘Self’, I said, ‘What on earth is that? I mean, it looks like a dog, but it’s so… wide!’ And then she turned a corner and was between two people and I couldn’t see her, so naturally I ran a little to catch up.

(Yes, I admit it, I run after other people’s dogs. What, I run a web site called ‘The Dogs of San Francisco’, you think I’m sane?)

And so it wasn’t until I actually caught up that I got a good look at her. And got a few good guffaws in, and a couple halfway decent pictures taken. Of which, two more, after the break.

(Incidentally, to Taedyn’s mom: if I got her name wrong, I’m sorry… I accidentally goofed it up when entering it and had to redo it, and by that time it’d mostly left my mind, as things are wont to do.)

German Shepherd

Taedyn is pretty.

Dog of the Day: Mu Hsu the Sheltie/Pomeranian Mix

I’m not sure how the name is spelled… Moo Shu? Mu Shu? Moo Shoo? Moo Shoe, for that matter? [And then her parents showed up, and it’s Mu Hsu, darn it! And it’s ‘he!’ Edited to reflect the, ah, altered understanding. Shall we say.] Anyway, he’s half Shetland sheepdog, half Pomeranian, and all fluffy cuteness. I saw him standing on a part of some cement scalloped seating down near Ghirardelli Square, and at first I thought he was a fluffy corgi who was standing on one step higher than he actually was. Once I sorted out the fact that he actually did have legs, I didn’t know what to think. He totally looks like a fluffy corgi with legs, but all the half-corgis I have ever seen inherited all four legs from the corgi half of the family. Did not compute! Fortunately, mom and dad were there to straighten me out.

Two more pictures, after the break. [While I’m editing this: wow. It really hasn’t been all that long since I figured out how to remove the bluish cast from pictures, has it? I just reedited these pictures, and they should be a lot more pleasant to look at now. I don’t think I’m going to go back and fix anything else, though: I have enough trouble just keeping up with posting to begin with.]

Half-Sheltie, Half-Pomeranian

Super-soft fur. Hardly surprising, given the two breeds.

Dog of the Day: Kaunas the Cockapoo (?)

I dunno. I have it recorded that on 8/12 I met and took pictures of a cockapoo (cocker spaniel/poodle mix). And the only pictures I have from 8/12 are of this fine lass. But she doesn’t look much like any cockapoo I’ve ever seen.

Well, whatever, she’s a fine example of whatever it is she actually is.

Four more even goofier pictures after the break.

Cockapoo... maybe?

This dog has some of the most manic expressions I've ever had on the blog.

Dog of the Day: Asics the Great Dane/Weimaraner

For a Great Dane/Weimaraner mix, he sure is a chocolate lab, isn’t he? Well, he’s young yet, he will probably get bigger and may look a little different when he’s fully grown. And in the mean time, he’s adorable. And super-goofy.

His (human) dad is an avid runner, apparently. I dunno, I’m not sure I’d name my dog after my shoes (then again, ‘New Balance’ is a much sillier name than ‘Asics’), but if he ends up chewing on dad’s shoes, the name will end up looking prescient.

Five more pictures after the break. Several of them are quite goofy.

Great Dane/Weimaraner Mix

Look at the funny hind-leg position. Looks like a frog-dog!

Dog of the Day: Pug

Been a while since we’ve had a pug.

Two more pictures after the break.

That's a bandana tied around this guy's neck.

Dog of the Day: Frannie the Shar-Pei/Golden Retriever Mix

Frannie’s a little goofy-looking, but she’s a real character. I especially love her expression in the third picture. I ran into her outside a cafe not far from my house — one with outdoor seating — where she was watching everyone’s food with rapt attention.

Four more pictures, after the break.

Shar-Pei/Golden Retriever mix

Yes, her head does look a little bit too big for her body.

Dog of the Day: MORE GREAT PUPPY FIGHT!

And now, because it’s been ages and I still have a few of these left, another picture from the great puppy fight of 2010!

This is the picture that got the lighter-colored pup renamed to 'Mike Tyson.'

Dog of the Day: Rottweiller

Quick post today, because I’m tired. But he’s got great eyebrows, so it’s all good, right?

Rottweiller

He looks so serious. I wonder what he's thinking?
