Don’t tell anyone this, but I quite like running into the dogs without their owners.
That way I can monopolize their attention for as long as I like.
I’ve been sitting on this for a few weeks because it was just too adorable: a squee-worthy puppydog with a HEART on his side! Rocky is 3 months old, and stopped traffic on 4th Street during rush hour. Okay, okay, it was pedestrian traffic, but that was only because he was too small for the motorists to see.
I was with him for almost ten minutes, trying to make sure I got at least SOME non-blurry shots (it was dark). In that entire time, the tail never stopped moving.
In the time I was there, literally two dozen people must’ve stopped.
Okay, look at that, this dog has a heart on his side.

In this case I think the cabbie was inside Chaat Corner, picking up some dinner. For two, of course.
Guinea pigs aren’t from Guinea, or New Guinea. Nor are they pigs. Kinda cute, though.
It’s illegal to own only one guinea pig in Switzerland. Apparently they get too lonely.
Found this remarkable feline at an adoption fair in Berkeley a couple weekends ago. Lucky I got there early, because I bet someone adopted her really quick: total sweetheart, and amazing appearance.

I think he’s a Lab mix. I know he was just in the middle of being adopted when I got some pictures of him.
How can he look so sad and so cuddly at the same time?
Saw this pup while stopped at a traffic light.
Wonder if you can get ticketed for taking pictures out your car window while stopped at a traffic light?
If this is wrong, I don’t want to be right.
I ran into Rocky right around the corner from work, but I didn’t have time to take his picture, since I was rushing off to lunch. Then I ran into him again when I was leaving for the evening, and I thought ‘this is clearly fate, why fight it?’
Rocky is eight, and although he came from the shelter as a Lab, looking at him I have to guess Lab/Dane mix. And he’s recently lost a limb: he had bone cancer in one of his hind legs, and they had to take it off. It had been a really recent surgery when I saw him, and he was still learning to get along without it, but give him a week or two more and I think he’s going to be doing great. His attitude is clearly fabulous.
He’s got a lot of grizzle going on there.
Gave everyone a sniff, and, where possible, a lick, as they went by.
Rosie (three years old) is the pup of Francine Brevetti, whose dog Dante was featured on here before. I ran into her on my way to work last week, and heard that, alas, Dante had passed away. And Francine adopted Rosie three months ago. They seem great together.
She looks a little grumbly, but she isn’t.
I got a couple of Rosie smooches.
Lucy the ‘blood python‘, to be exact. She’s 3, and about 10 pounds and 4 feet long tail-tip to tongue-tip. I was riding along in the bus on the way to work one morning, and I looked out the window and there was this guy and his snake, so I said ‘heck with work’ and got out and took some pictures. Still got to work a lot earlier than some of my coworkers who shall remain unnamed.
Hey, if I had a snake I would totally take her out for a stroll. Or a slither.
When I was in college I had a girlfriend who had a snake. She was fun. (So was my girlfriend. Of course. But I’m just saying.)
She just wandered by with her boyfriend or husband. When the snake’s owner asked if she wanted to hold her, she immediately accepted. Her companion, on the other hand, was sooo not into the idea. Aren’t stereotypes fun?
