I think these two are puggles (pug/beagle crosses) but I am not certain. They’ve definitely got some pug in them, though.
Also: you know you’ve been photoblogging for too long when you type a query into google image search, see an image and think, ‘oh, that’s cute’, click on it, and it’s from your own damn blog.
Puggles do woebegone almost as well as golden retrievers.

I was walking down Polk Street the other day, right near one of my new favorite restaurants. (Mmm, Burmese food. Not to be confused with Bernese food, of course. Or, for that matter, Bernie’s food.) backwards, trying to catch a last couple of pictures of another dog (which I’ll be posting sometime soon). And I suddenly felt something poke me in the leg. I looked down, and it was this gorgeous fellow, letting me know gently but firmly that he was not going to be ignored, and I was not going to get away without paying the dog tax.
Affable, fearless, and not the slightest bit shy about asking for what he wants. I want to be a black German shepherd when I grow up.
Also, why I did I write this up, get it all ready, and then go to bed without hitting ‘publish’?
It’s the patented ‘German shepherd grin’. It gets me every time.
Could you say ‘no’ to a face like that?
So there I was, minding my own business, out to pick up some medicine for Autumn, when what should I run across but a half dozen puppies congregating outside of a local pet store for their weekly puppy class?
It was too dark for most of my pictures to come out, drat it, but I did my best for you.
They all got along great, although one of them was definitely a bit more dominant than the others.
…and it was definitely not the Rottweiler.
Who nevertheless was having the time of her life. (I love that expression.)
She made new friends quick, too.
I should’ve audited the class. How much do you suppose it costs per credit-hour?
Ran into a couple of these guys wandering a street fair in Oakland. No idea why, but it’s fine by me.
They seemed friendly enough, but I wouldn’t get too close without an invitation, and I didn’t get invited.
These two fishbowl kitties were greeting passers-by with silent but plaintive meowlets at our local SPCA.
They frown upon bloggers climbing into the big glass fishbowls with the kittens. Don’t ask me how I know this.
Comet is such a sweetie, as you’ll see from the last of these pictures (which were not, obviously, taken by me, but by Comet’s mom.) I met her at the San Francisco Maritime National Historical Park, also known as the Hyde Street Pier. (Trivia point for you buffs: it’s the United States’s smallest National Park.) They were having a sea music festival, and she and her mom and a friend were relaxing on the pier and enjoying the music.
The slight head tilt gets me every time.
I think she was a little annoyed. There she was, happily lying down, and I had to ask her to get up and pose for pictures, when she wasn’t even going anywhere.
Such a sweet face. The markings make her look a little sad.
Tooootal sweetheart. And yes, that’s me, receiving copious smooches.
How could I not have known that Pembrokes come in sable? Possibly the prettiest coloration a dog can have, on possibly the goofiest and most hilarious dog in existence? (Well, aside from some corgi crosses, perhaps.)
Also, for some reason the GPS on my phone puts this picture out in the middle of the San Francisco Bay. Weird.
Goofy? Check. Sable? Also check. Well I’ll be damned.
Apparently Cocoa’s official name includes ’85 Percent’, which makes him my kind of dog. He’s a maybe-full-lab, maybe-mix puppy, 5 months old, and did not seem the least bit bothered by his cone of shame, donned because of a little eye infection that should be about cleared up by now.
Cocoa did not let the cone keep him from going after anything edible (and most things non-) on the ground nearby.
I sat near Cocoa for, what, an hour or so? In that time, the only times he didn’t look this happy were when he looked happier.
Ran into these surprisingly fancy chickens at a street fair in Oakland. Yes, yes, okay, technically the little mini petting zoo was for kids, but I’m sure nobody minded me butting in.
Are they really chickens? The one on the right looks 1/5 the size, and the one on the left looks like a pillow.
Rooster? Maybe? God, I feel like such a ‘city kid’. 🙂 Those are some amazing feathered feet, though.
Some Macy’s window kitties adjust to their positions more readily than others. The kittens don’t care much, and the adult cats with companions seem to do okay, but the solitary kitties sometimes get a little grumpy being moved around repeatedly over the course of a single day. I can’t say as I blame them, either.
This one was a pretty tiger tabby, and I’m sure he got picked up quite quickly, and taken home to a place where he wasn’t being moved around so much.
He definitely had a grumpy air about him.
