Dog of the Day: Saya the Pooped Double Doodle Puppy

A double doodle for your daily delectation! Apparently that’s what you get when you breed a Labradoodle and a goldendoodle. Who knew?

What you also get, in this case, is a 4.5 month old totally pooped puppy who is rather bigger than initial estimates led her owner to believe.

She is not going to be able to do that for much longer.

Woman Holding Large Golden Retreiver/Labrador Retriever/Poodle Mix

Not the happiest puppy expression. I think she’d rather have just lay down and taken a two hour nap right there.

Dog of the Day: Lola the German Shepherd Mix Puppy

I don’t know how I sat on Lola’s pictures for this long (a month and a half) without posting them. I think you’ll agree that she is one of the most photogenic dogs I’ve ever had the good fortune to meet. And all this at only seven months!

Poses she has down pat already: noble dog…

Double Dog Day: Finn the Great Dane and Jake the Golden Retriever

These two were obviously the best of friends.

Black Great Dane Standing Over Golden Retriever

They were standing like this for several minutes. I get the feeling it’s a common occurrence.

Black Great Dane Standing Over Golden Retriever

They’re the perfect sizes for it.

He looks very serious, doesn’t he?

Sunday Switchup: Octoday

Courtesy of the Aquarium of the Pacific, which may not be quite on the level of the Monterey Bay Aquarium but is still pretty awesome.

North Pacific Giant Octopus

Apparently octopuses are really smart and surprisingly affectionate.

Giant Pacific Octopus

Apparently being an octopus handler is a high-stress job, because you get really attached to your subject, but they only live two years at most.

Young Pacific Giant Octopus

Some examples of octopus smartness in this article. Pretty amazing.

Caturday Supplement: Two Little Kittens

SPCA kittens! Quick, go adopt one before they’re all gone!

Grey Tiger Tabby Kitten and Grey Tuxedo Kitten

I can’t decide what’s cuter: the little pink nose or the little grey nose.

Dog of the Day: Nina the Bernese Mountain Dog

I ran into Nina (6 years old) right near the Chestnut Street Apple Store, but this was a few weeks ago so I’m pretty sure they weren’t in line for the new Apple Watch or whatever you call it. Still, you never can tell.

Bernese Mountain Dog Looking Happy

I. Love. Berners.

Bernese Mountain Dog Looking Happy

Look at that concentrated happy.

Bernese Mountain Dog Looking Goofy And Confused

Not quite clear on what I did, but that’s quite an expression.

Bernese Mountain Dog Looking Disgruntled

Even when they’re not looking happy they are still adorable. And hilarious.

Dog of the Day: Frank Sinatra (aka Frankie) the Basset Hound Puppy

Frankie! Six months old, and already the LONGEST EARS IN THE CITY!

Six Month Old Basset Hound Puppy

I need to do more videos. Watching this dog’s ears flop around is a potent antidepressant.

Six Month Old Basset Hound Puppy

If you look closely you can catch a glimpse of spotty puppy belly.

Six Month Old Basset Hound Puppy Scratching Himself

Three quarters of my pictures of Frankie were of him scratching his ear. I think he may have been hinting at something. “PET ME HERE!”

Dog of the Day: Sterling the Pembroke Welsh Corgi

I never get tired of these guys. Sterling was right around 1 year old when I took this picture, and enjoying a brisk walk through North Beach.

Look at that happy face. I wonder what prompted it?

Ah yes. Well, this is a corgi, after all.

Dog of the Day: Bailey the Puli

A puli! Our first white one. Bailey is 4, and happy as anything and doesn’t have nearly as long dreads as some pulik (the plural) do, which is handy because it means she can see and isn’t quite as hard to keep clean. Plus it’s easier for her to lick people.

Smiling White Puli with Wagging Tail

Note the tail blur.

There are eyes in there somewhere, I promise.

White Puli Looking Away From Camera

A good look at those dreads. They’re actually fairly fine.

Dog of the Day: Shy the English Bulldog Puppy

Shy, at 5 months old, was definitely not shy. She loves everybody!

English Bulldog Puppy Under A Table

Everyone walking by had to give this gal a wide berth if they didn’t want their ankles smooched.

English Bulldog Licking Her Nose

Puts me in mind of a phrase from a song Autumn is writing: ‘Her tongue was as pink as the ham.’ Yes, it’s a dog song.
