Dog of the Day: Ranger the Miniature Australian Shepherd

Ranger’s first birthday wasn’t too long ago, but he’s doomed to eternal ridiculous cuteness on account of his being a miniature Aussie.

Every picture I got of him was in a shadow. Ah well, he’s still adorable even in a shadow.

The ridiculous EARS.

The expression, too.

I don’t know what’s more ridiculous, the two up ears or the one flopped ear.

My god, those eyes are really something. Border collies ain’t got nothing on him.

That’s a hopeful look. I think mom had some treats.

Dog of the Day: Fuzz the Pomeranian

Last week we had ‘Poof the Pomeranian’, and this week we have ‘Fuzz the Pomeranian’. Fuzz is 5, and mellow and happy. And FUZZY.

The guy behind Fuzz is the dad of Walker and Munsen, I believe. Being goofy.

Caturday Supplement: Possibly Matthews the Kitty

So I admit it: I fell down on the job and didn’t remember to get this fine kitty’s name. The tag says either ‘Mathews’ or ‘Mathew 5’, so it might be a bible verse or the kitty’s name. Either way, I remember him because he was totally mellow sitting in mom’s lap at a cafe, just hanging out. Most cats aren’t comfortable out of their territory, but he seemed happy as a clam.

Grey Kitty

Embarrassingly enough, I don’t recall if he was blind or just had his eyes closed a lot of the time.

Grey Kitty With Eyes Closed

The world needs more cats who don’t mind being taken to outdoor cafes. It makes it SO much easier for me to get pictures.

They were having a nice, relaxing morning.

Dog of the Day: Cayleigh Mae the Olde English Bulldogge

Short post today, because I am wiped out! But you still get an awesome dog. Meet Cayleigh Mae! She’s six, and happy as the day is long.

Olde English Bulldogge

Cayleigh Mae was mellow, happy, friendly, and drooly. Awesome dog!

Dog of the Day: EEEEEEEEEEEEEE!

First: Good Tidus tidings! His doctor says that he is doing well, and should be able to start doing a bit of walking for himself sometime in the next week or so. For an injury that could have paralyzed his back half for life, that’s so great! Hooray, Tidus! Autumn and I got him a ‘get well soon’ squeaky-toy, and he is apparently enjoying it enough to drive his parents to distraction. Yay!

In celebration of this good news, I am posting a celebratory 3-month-old corgi puppy, whose name I didn’t catch because I was too busy squealing like an elementary school girl.

I was walking home from work, and I stopped and did a double take: it was a TEENY CORGI in a BAG!

The lips!

Okay now that’s just too much.

Dog of the Day: Mika the Husky

Mika! She’s 8 months old, and oh my god she is the best subject ever. I took so many pictures of her, and it was so hard to choose!

* Gratuitous hovertext reference note: Aniseed (aka anice) has a similar effect on some dogs as catnip does on cats, though it tends to be less pronounced.

Agouti and White Siberian Husky

For goofy expressions, huskies really give golden retrievers a run for their money.

Look at those eyes.

The racing stripe is also pretty neat.

Keeping an eye on me.

Agouti and White Siberian Husky With Light Blue Eyes Sticking Her Nose In My Camera

Yes, it’s a nose shot, without the nose. It totally looks like I could land a plane on her snout.

Husky goof. There’s nothing like it.

Double Dog Day: Quince and Penne the Doberman Pinschers

Ran into these two out at Ocean Beach. Don’t see a lot of Dober-men (and Dober-women?) around San Francisco, but they’re a lot of fun when I do run into them.

Black and Rust Doberman and Red and Rust Doberman

Quince (male, 5) is on the left. That puts Penne (female, 7) on the right.

Black and Rust Doberman and Red and Rust Doberman

They weren’t terribly happy to be on leash. I think they wanted to do some running.

They were definitely enjoying the beach, though.

Red and Rust Doberman Nose

Penne was quite gregarious.

Dog of the Day: Tito the Black German Shepherd/Border Collie

Ran into this pup down on Polk Street, but if I remember right (I’m doing this from memory, not from notes), he and his mom were actually visiting from Florida. And mom was a vet, so you know he’s well-treated. He’s barely more than a puppy, about 1.5 years old.

Edit: Oops! I just heard from his mom, below… the woman in the picture was indeed a vet from Florida, but Tito is from San Francisco. Which means I might just be lucky enough to run into him again. Yay!

Edit x2: Boy I suck. The woman in the picture is Tito’s mom. The vet from Florida is present, but not actually in any pictures. And Tito is still adorable.

German shepherd and border collie. I bet he’s smart as a whip. And fast.

So serious.

He did a fair bit of clowning around at the table too.

Caturday Supplement: Tortie

I ran into this kitty while I was wandering around not far from the SF Zoo.

Tortoiseshell Cat

This is actually a friendly, or at least non-hostile, face. It says, ‘I am confident enough that you’re not a threat that I am willing to close my eyes.’
