Dog of the Day: Emma the Yorkshire Terrier Puppy

I ran into Major today after work, and it turns out it’s his birthday. I was going to post another couple pictures of him if I had any, but it turns out that I didn’t have any that I hadn’t already posted. Too bad, he’s pretty cute. Happy birthday, Major!

So, instead of Major, we’ll have to settle for some adorably cute pictures of Emma, the 10-week-old Yorkie puppy. I ordinarily never take flash pictures for the blog, because without lots of lights and lots of preparation flash pictures look awful, but for a dog this cute you gotta make some exceptions.

Dog of the Day: Colt the German Wirehaired Pointer/Labrador Retriever Mix

Whoo. That was an eventful trip. Finally home again, and ready to go to bed, so just a quick post from me: Colt, a 7-month-old puppy of uncertain origins. But his parents’ guess, German shorthaired pointer and Labrador retriever, didn’t seem quite right to me… I think wirehaired is a little more likely.

In any case, he’s scruffy, and very very difficult to photograph… he spends a lot of time looking in lots of different directions.

Well, of course he does: he’s a pointer AND a retriever, it’s pretty important for him to know what is where at any given time, in case he has to point at it, or retrieve it!

Dog of the Day: DogPack Poodle

Sorry I missed a day: Autumn’s birthday was busy busy busy. We went out to breakfast, and then went hiking (it was coooold!) all day, and then hit up a fondue place for a nearly-lovely dinner. (It would have been lovely if it weren’t the person at the next table over, who spent the entire meal cleaning out his bronchial tubes. Loudly. Ugh.) We didn’t get home until 10:45, and had to be up at 6:30 to catch a plane to lovely Portland, from whence I am posting today!

Things are busy up here, but I love you guys, and wouldn’t want you to go through withdrawal. So here’s a brief post, of a man and his dog.

Caturday Supplement: Birthday Watercats!

It’s Autumn’s birthday tomorrow, and how better to celebrate this caturday than with some sea lions, playing in the bay?

The sea lions were out in force at Pier 39, and these two were hanging out a bit away from the main group. They have the silliest-looking little tails.

I got lucky with them… they were on the dock, and then, while I was taking pictures, they leapt off and started playing in the water.

Dog of the Day: Manny the Boxer Puppy

I told you this had been a heck of a week for boxer puppies. But did you listen? Did you? No, of course you didn’t. Because you were too busy looking at the cute boxer puppies.

Well, here’s another one. I saw Manny (4.5 months old) about one block away from where I saw Hunter, and I saw them less than a minute apart. And yet they hadn’t met one another yet. Terrible! Hopefully that can be rectified soon.

Dog of the Day: Juvi the Samoyed

Third samoyed in the last couple of months. This may well be the same one I posted on August 20th. If so, now we know her name (Juvi) and her age (6). We already knew her disposition (sunny, and a little mischievous.)

Dog of the Day: Blue the 4-Month-Old Boxer Puppy

It’s shaping up to be another puppy week, isn’t it? (Oh, don’t throw me into that briar patch, br’er fox!) I loved the interplay between Blue and his boy. They are pretty clearly inseparable.

Ran into this little pup outside of a local eatery, where she was trying hard to lick every single person who walked by.

Double Dog Day: Some Old Friends!

Autumn and I were out wandering around the Marina and the Fisherman’s Wharf areas today, and we got a couple of surprises. First we ran into the cutest little long-haired miniature dachshund. And when I heard that her name was ‘Chloe’, I thought, ‘Wow, that sounds familiar!’ And sure enough, I found her. She was one of the first dogs I took a picture of, in December of 2009, and was one of the first 50 I posted, in January of 2010. She is just as adorable now (4.5 years old) as she was almost four years ago, I think you’ll agree.

I really love seeing old friends.

And speaking of old friends… only half an hour or so later, Autumn and I were sitting outside a cafe and enjoying the sunshine when who should walk by, but our old friend (and repeat star) Baloo!

Last couple times I saw him, Baloo was with a Yorkie named ‘Romeo’. This isn’t Romeo, although I didn’t get her name. Apparently Baloo just likes Yorkies! (But hey, who doesn’t?)
