Dog of the Day: Teddy the Long-Haired Chihuahua/Poodle Mix

Teddy is just about the cutest Chihuahua cross ever.

Long-Haired Chihuahua/Poodle Mix

Adventure Dog! I can't believe he could get chilly with that fur, but he sure didn't seem too warm with the jacket.

Long-Haired Chihuahua/Poodle Mix

I could tell he was getting itchy under the jacket. They always get itchy under the jacket.

Long-Haired Chihuahua/Poodle Mix

Of course, after I scratched under the jacket, he needed a little shake to re-settle it.

Dog of the Day: Chow Mix

No idea what this guy is mixed with. He was making some noise outside Real Foods on Polk Street. Not really being annoying, just barking every once in a while to let mom/dad/whoever inside know that he was still out there waiting.

Chow Mix

You can tell he's a happy dog... in every single picture I took, his tail's the only blurry thing.

Chow Mix

He also seems to spend most of his time with a grin on his face.

Chow Mix

Eventually he got tired of standing around barking, and lay down. And barked.

Happy face super Chow close-up!

Dog of the Day: Siberian Husky/Wolf Puppy

May I introduce B, the 3/4 Siberian Husky, 1/4 Wolf puppy? She is totally adorable from nose to tailtip. And she is desperately in need of cuddles, so if you are down in the South Beach/Southern Embarcadero area and see her, please do your part to reduce cuddle deficiency.

Husky/Wolf Mix

I promise, she's not a stuffed animal, she's a real pup.

Husky/Wolf Mix

Those ears are so ridiculous. Not shown: super-soft fuzzy skritchable belly.

Husky/Wolf Mix

These two are trying to figure out how to simultaneously sniff butts. Good luck, with that big a size difference. Also: check out that AMAZING tail!

Husky/Wolf Mix

How could anyone possibly resist doing this?

Dog of the Day: Yorkshire Terrier

Yorkie!

Yorkshire Terrier

I promise, this end is head. Even if you can't see any eyes, a nose, or a mouth.

Caturday Supplement: Macy’s Kitties!

A little Caturday surprise for y’all. It’s been a while since I remembered to do this. These guys are from this Christmas’s Macy’s adoption window.

Kittens

These two were brother and sister. They had a lot of fun together, but they sure did play rough sometimes.

Kitten

They were also frequently goofy.

Kitten

Every once in a while they paused to look extremely sarcastic, too.

Dog of the Day: Lola the Boxer/Spaniel Puppy

Ohhh, someone’s a cutie! Fifteen weeks old.

Boxer/Cocker Spaniel Puppy

Awwww. Such a sad look. But then, both boxers and cocker spaniels tend to look a little depressed sometimes, whether they are or not.

Boxer/Cocker Spaniel Mix

Look at that adorable tail position. And the little black and white tailtip!

Boxer/Cocker Spaniel Mix

I love how some dogs' skin bunches up like that. Ridiculous.

Literate puppy points out the lovely poetry embedded in San Francisco sidewalks.

Curious puppy nose!

Dog of the Day: Malia Again!

I got a couple of pictures of Malia with the new camera, and she’s a pretty enough beast that I think she’s worth a second look. And this time, when I asked, her dad said she was a Chow/Samoyed, which makes a lot more sense to me.

Anyway, whatever she is, she’s cute!

Chow/Samoyed Mix

Hmm. Looks like her right hind leg was moving when I took this. It was pretty dim outside. Lesson 1: the new camera is a lot better in low-light conditions, but it's not perfect, so don't press your luck.

Chow/Samoyed Mix

Rule 2: if it's a cute picture, it doesn't really matter if a leg is blurry. The back half of the dog on the right is another of our old friends, incidentally. I *love* his tail.

Dog of the Day: Chase the German Shorthaired Pointer

No, that’s not an instruction, it’s a name. His name is Chase, and he’s a German shorthaired pointer.

I’m sure he’d be delighted if you chased him for a while, though. He seemed playful enough.

German Shorthaired Pointer

I love the blaze up his nose. And the spotty coloration always makes me think of camouflage pajamas.

German Shorthaired Pointer

He's a past master at the Art of the Plaintive Expression.

A closer-up view of the plaintive look.

German Shorthaired Pointer

Sadly, an itch interrupted his plaintive expression.

Dog of the Day: Rosie the St. Bernard

Ohh, man, I’m not sure I could handle Rosie. She’s one hell of a lot of dog! And yet, every inch a lady.

Well, aside from a little drool. But nobody’s perfect.

St. Bernard

Such a super-sweet pup. I wanted to get down on my knees and give her a big hug, but I was afraid her mom might not approve.

Saint Bernard

I wonder if she's always this happy? Also, I'm unhappy: I cut off her toes. 🙁

St. Bernard

If I had a St. Bernard, I wouldn't even bother with a blanket at night. I'd just cuddle right up.

St. Bernard

She's so huge, she doesn't even fit in a frame! Also... I guess I might have to put down a thicker mattress cover if I slept with a St. Bernard, huh? Kinda... drooly. Oh well, you take the bad with the good.

Dog of the Day: Galumphing Hound

Long day. Have a galloping hound mix. (Well, maybe. Maybe Autumn will correct me?)

Hound Mix

This guy was playing an early morning round of fetch with his human. Maybe someday I'll have a dog to do that with. I'm practicing getting up early enough.
