Sunday Switchup: #dessertisserved

These are from Dessert Is Served, a little shop right near my workplace that I just recently discovered and that I am trying my best not to visit TOO often. They may or may not have the most delicious desserts in San Francisco — the competition is so fierce! — but they certainly do have some of the prettiest.

Caturday Supplement: Tuxedo Kittens

A pair of kittens from the ‘Christmas kitten cuddle experience’ at Macy’s. They were not being cuddled at the time I took this picture. Poor kittens.

I really need more cat pictures. Fortunately, next Caturday is a ‘First Caturday’, which means, unless it rains AGAIN, that there will be kitties in the Mission Dolores Park! Yay!

Cats and boxes. Made for each other. And no, I don’t mean the litterbox.

Dog of the Day: Knee High the (SOON-TO-BE-ADOPTABLE) Klee-Klai Mix!

I volunteered with Muttville Senior Dog Rescue a couple of weeks back, as part of a company volunteer-y-thing. I mostly spent the time licking envelopes and getting paper cuts on my tongue, but I did get to take one dog for a walk. I had ended up out of the room when the dog-choosing happened, and when I came back I was left with a rather… sedentary-looking Chihuahua. But when he didn’t want to go out at all, one of the staff slipped into a back room and came out with Knee High. And I’ll tell you what: if I had an apartment that would let me, I would have adopted him on the spot.

If you have a place, well, he’ll be up for adoption pretty soon. I’d give Muttville a call in advance, though, because trust me, he’ll be gone almost instantly.

Knee-High is apparently somewhere around twelve. This would not have been my guess.

Klee-Kai Mix Grinning

I did not take Knee High out on a walk. His natural pace, even with those short legs, was fast enough that I had to run, not walk, to keep up.

He was also something I hadn’t run across before, a really *competitive* dog. Every time another dog tried to catch up to us on the walk, he’d put on a burst of speed.

And he kept looking over his shoulder to make sure no one was catching up. This is not me anthopomorphizing. He was seriously doing that.

I gather Knee-High was taken from a not-so-great situation. He sure was happy to be at Muttville. And loved everybody.

Dog of the Day: Bichon Frise

This pup has lived in a local office for several years now. And boy has he come a long way. Why, these days you can stand in front of the door for nearly twenty seconds before he starts barking at you.

The bottom of the door kind of reminds me of those old Polaroid photos. (Oh, wait, am I dating myself again?)

Dog of the Day: Tuxedo Pit Bull

A very well-dressed pup was sitting with great poise in the local grooming parlour (see I even spelled it the schmancy way!) when I went by this morning.

SOMEONE was feeling too dignified to come over and say hello. Hmf!

Sunday Switchup: Mural-velous!

Ran across this the other day. Despite a certain minor resemblance to a black velvet painting, I quite like it.

Edit: Grr. For some reason known only to itself, WordPress never successfully posted this last night.

Dog of the Day: Otto the Siberian Husky Mix

Otto is 1, and wants you to know that if you are sad, he will cuddle you until you are happy again.

Otto is an *expert* snuggler. It only took him seconds to cheer me right up!

Dog of the Day: Tink the Shiba Inu

Tink is 7 years old, and is almost certainly very photogenic when the sun isn’t throwing harsh shadows all over everyone and everything.

Shiba Inu Lying In The Grass

As you can see, she is also a ‘deep Tinker’.

See? Pretty! But alas, not willing to let me pet her. No fair, Tink!

Dog of the Day: Augie the French Bulldog Puppy

Augie was 4 months old when I took these pictures. And, since I just ran into him two days ago, I’m going to guess that he probably still is.

“Augie” is not short for anything. Not even Augie “Ben” Doggie.

This picture makes it even clearer just how much ear there is on just how little dog.

Sunday Switchup: Art the Dog

This pup is sitting outside the Asian Art Museum. Looks pretty cheerful, huh?
