Dog of the Day: Logan the Pembroke Welsh Corgi

It’s Friday, but this is not the last day of our corgi week by any means. Tomorrow will be a special non-caturday Saturday corgiday, and Sunday there will be something special and corgi-related. That’s right, a full seven days of corgulance!

And speaking of corgulance, this is Logan, who is all of two years old, and who is already famous, with his own Instagram page (‘logthecorgi‘) and everything. He is billed as ‘Derpiest Dog in San Francisco’, and although I don’t quite believe that, I would say that he definitely has his moments.

Logan was very, very hard to get pointed in the right direction.

I walked all the way around Logan trying to get him to face me, and I still mostly got his sides and the back of his head. I wonder how much of that was on purpose.

Dog of the Day: Lexi the Pembroke Welsh Corgi

Lexi is the other corgi I got pictures of yesterday. She and her dad were moving quickly, so I’m not sure if I even mentioned the blog to him. I think I just asked if I could take some pictures, took ’em, and then let the two of them go on their merry way. So if anyone knows Lexi’s dad maybe tell him that she’s ridiculously adorable and featured on my blog?

Dog of the Day: Lola the Pembroke Welsh Corgi

So… I said last week that I had gotten so many new corgi pictures recently that it was time to do a corgi week, right? Well, today I was out and about after work, heading over to a store to pick up something, and what happens? I run into two more corgis. Two! That is a record unmatched since, um, well, actually since two Fridays ago. But I digress.

This is Lola (7), as in ‘whatever Lola wants, Lola gets.’ I’ve run into Lola before, at least once — I remember because her dad and I walked along and had a talk about Internet email transmission protocols (don’t judge me) — but it was in the winter and I was on my way home from work and it was way too dark to take pictures of a corgi and hope to get anything good and and and waaaaaaah don’t blame me I’m so sorry!

Um. Right! Anyway. What Lola wanted, today, was to get her picture on DoSF. And what Lola wanted, Lola gets, viz.:

Corgi ‘tocks. Are the the most tocktacular ‘tocks in the land?

Lola was rather difficult to get (and keep) pointed in approximately the right direction.

That smile though.

Dog of the Day: Zoe the Pembroke Welsh Corgi

I apologize in advance for not being able to find any Cardigans for this week. I’ll keep looking, as I consider them every bit as awesome as Pembrokes. But in the mean time, Zoe (6) is well worth a look. I actually caught her twice, once three weeks ago and then again last week. She was in fine form both times, and as happy to see me as I was to see her.

I love the little mischievous expression on her face.

Dog of the Day: Walter the Fluffy Pembroke Welsh Corgi

It’s corgi week! And you know what that means! (And if you don’t know what that means, I dunno, maybe get someone to explain it to you? I feel like it’s pretty straightforward, really.) To open on a strong note, I am leading off with one of the only three things that could make an AKC-certified corgi even more awesome: Walter is a fluffy Pembroke Welsh corgi, a corgi that has a pooflier-than-usual coat. They are softer, more huggable, shed even more than a regular corgi (how is that even possible??) and look even more utterly ridiculous (ditto!).

Incidentally, amazingly, this is not the first Walter the corgi we have seen on this blog. In fact, I use one of the pictures of the other Walter as a ‘gravitar’ in various places.

Someone likes being scratched under the chin very much. And more or less everywhere else, too.

Look at that ear fur. Luxuriant!

There, see? He does have a body. Just no legs.

Sunday Switchup: Donald Trump Grumpycat

I know, I know. This is not a political blog, I don’t post political stuff. But this isn’t political, I promise! I was just sitting down to use a coworker’s computer a few weeks ago and I looked down at the mouse pad, and choked. After recovering my breath, I asked ‘Was that intentional?’ And my coworker looked down and burst out into laughter too. “NO!” So I wasn’t the only one who recognized TrumpyCat.

Can I get a trademark on ‘TrumpyCat’, do you think? It’d make a hell of a tee shirt.

Caturday Supplement: Yes, That Window Kitty Again

I really have to find more cats to photograph. In my defense, though, she keeps doing cute things.

I think she must have been meditating. She was holding her head up, so she wasn’t asleep, but her eyes were closed.

Dog of the Day: Cupcake the Bulldog

This is Cupcake (I think!) the 8-year-old English bulldog. I did not get any notes on what the deal was with the wagon, but 8-year-old bulldogs can have some health issues so maybe that was it. Anyway, it’s pretty sporty, isn’t it?

Some news: first off, I will be heading off to take pictures of dogs in costumes at the San Francisco Power Walk tomorrow! It’s for a worthy charity, check it out!

And second off, I have recently run across a lot of corgis. And have thus decided that it’s time for another corgi week! So stay tuned next week for corgi smiles, corgi waddles, and all sorts of other corgi things.

Dog of the Day: Belgian Malinois

So I remember running into this pup, and I remember squealing and running out of the coffee shop that I was working in, and I remember his dad saying I’d taken pictures of him before. But I went and looked and didn’t find any Belgian shepherds that I’d photographed that looked anything like him… unless it was last August, when I took some pictures (all blurry, alas) of a malinois that had been shaved very short. It’s not impossible… especially since this is often how the fur grows back in when you shave a double-coated dog very short. 🙁

So I ran out of the cafe and took pictures, and the guy walked his pup away, and two of the people outside the cafe said, when he’d gone, ‘You totally just did exactly what I secretly wanted to do.’

Dog of the Day: Kimchi the Pekingese

I just discovered that it has been three whole years since we have seen a Pekingese on here. This must not stand! Fortunately I have just the thing.

Kimchi is 11, and is quite a polite and calm sort.

I love the snaggle-tooth. Also, I love the fact that Kimchi still has the puppy head-tilt down pat.
