Double Dog Day: French Bulldog and Doberman Pinscher

What have we here? Well, I like to think this French bulldog and Doberman pinscher pair are the best of friends, pausing to have a little light refreshment before heading off to some excellent adventure.

French Bulldog And Doberman Pinscher

It constantly amazes me how often I run into dogs I’ve never seen before in my own back yard. I’ve been down Polk hundreds of times, and I guess this Doberman has lived here for ages, and I’ve never seen him before.

Dog of the Day: Shaved Labradoodle?

Okay, I haven’t got a lot of guesses here. Maybe a shaved labradoodle? All I can tell you is, he looked even more hilarious in person than he does in this picture.

Shaved Labradoodle

I feel like this guy and Chicken should get together and commiserate.

Dog of the Day: Chester the Cream Sable Pomeranian

So I can’t decide if ‘cream sable Pomeranian’ sounds more like a dessert, a women’s fur coat, or a person from Pomerania. Whichever, Chester is an adorable one.

I looked, but couldn’t find any more easily-accessible Irish dogs for St. Patrick’s Day. Sorry, maybe next year!

Chester is 10, and young and healthy by Pomeranian standards.

Double Irish Dog Day: Chelsea and Marleybone the Kerry Blue Terriers

Happy St. Paddy’s Day! (And if you spell it St. Patty’s Day, shame on you, you’re buying!) I’m posting these two distinguished Irish-folk the day before, but since I typically only manage to post about half an hour before the date turns, I figured I’d give you the chance to enjoy them on St. Patrick’s itself.

Chelsea and Marleybone are not the first Kerry blue terriers that we’ve seen (that honor belongs to Argos) but I haven’t seen one since 2011, so I think it’s about time. They were a bit rowdy, perhaps wanting to take on the king of the terriers for his title, and I think these two could just about do it, too… they were quite large!  Eventually we got them faced in the same direction for long enough to take a picture, and while we were trying, I hit their folks up for some Kerry blue facts. Apparently Kerry blues have blue skin, and their coats start out black and lighten to grey as they become adults. They were originally bred by farmers to control animals that ate their crops, like rats, rabbits, and tennis balls, which explains their visceral reaction to all three.

Two Kerry Blue Terriers

The one on the left has classic Kerry blue ears. The one on the right has the ‘what me worry?’ variant. Also, they both have wookie legs.

Dog of the Day: Deputy Brown (AKA Deps) the Naughty Dog

I was on my way home today and I saw this adorable pup coming towards me down the sidewalk, and of course y’all know what I do when that happens. Well, no, not take pictures, at least not this time: it was kind of dark, since I was heading out late-ish. But yes to cuddling. Of course. And the pup’s mom mentioned that her name was ‘Deputy Brown’, and I thought, gee, that name sounds familiar.

And then she said “And she was preeeeeetty naughty today,” and I looked at her and thought, “Nooo, not this dog, this dog would never be naughty.” And then she showed me some pictures, and I thought, “Yes, okay, yes, that would definitely qualify her as a naughty dog.”  And I said, “Okay, you have got to mail those to me. Because I have got to share those on my blog.” And I tried my best to get a few non-blurry ones of her to go with the… disaster photos. And by the time I was home, I had a couple of those disaster photos in my inbox to share with y’all. (So say thanks in the comments for me, would you?)

And then I checked, and sure enough, I had indeed posted some pictures of Deputy Brown, aka Deps, aka Deputy Hunter Pinot Brown the First, before. They were from when she was 4 months old. And although I did manage to misgender her in them, they were still ridiculously adorable. And so she remains. Even if she is a bit of a naughty dog.

Deputy Brown The Naughty Dog Jindohuskita

She’s littler than she looks in this picture. I would never have guessed that she would have stopped growing at this size, but it’s adorable.

Deputy Brown The Naughty Dog Jindohuskita

For a petite dog, she sure has the ‘noble dog’ gravitas down pat. Though that might’ve been guilt.

So yes. This happened.

Poor Deps. I’m pretty sure she was embarrassed about this. For a few seconds, anyway.

Dog of the Day: Red Pembroke Welsh Corgi

So I’m now dogsitting for Tidus for most of March, dropping by one or two times a day (Autumn’s taking him two or three times a day) while his parents are out of the country. I spent much of the last two weekends with him, just hanging out and doing computer-work from there. I took a break to go down and get some lunch, and who should I see but another red Pembroke Welsh corgi!

Shhh, don’t tell Tidus. Not that it would matter, he knows I like him best. (BTW, will be posting updated Tidus pictures soon.)

That’s a young’n. Not that all corgis over the age of 11 months or so aren’t the same age: old enough to know better, young enough not to care.

Caturday Supplement: Chicken the Persian Cat

I might have mentioned a little while back that I was out of cats. Well, I just happened to run into Chicken the Persian cat last Sunday, being carried out of Bow Wow Meow after a… rather traumatic event. He was, I assure you, fine, but not at his happiest. I’m sure he felt better after he got home and got settled into his new…

Who am I kidding? He’s probably still pissed off. I would be.

He does like his name a lot, though. And so do I. Even if I have no idea why exactly it was chosen.

I didn’t realize just what he was going to look like when I saw him this way.

Well… to be fair, Persians do always kind of look disgruntled.

Dog of the Day: Pomeranian Jack Russell Terrier Mix Puppy

I didn’t get this pup’s name, but I did get his age and breed, and I have to tell you, a 3-month-old Pomeranian Jack Russell Terrier mix puppy is a silly-looking sort of thing.

Dog of the Day: Charlie the Little Goldendoodle Puppy

Man, I’ve had a lot of Charlies recently. Two in February, and now one in March too. Must be a Charlie time of year.

This Charlie is a sweet little goldendoodle puppy, 12 weeks old, that I met literally five minutes after I took my Hippo pictures from yesterday. While goldendoodles are not quite as good as labradoodles at looking like fried chicken, they are certainly good at looking fluffy and adorable. (This Charlie is a boy, by the way.)

Actually, there really is a distinct resemblance to fried chicken.

Dog of the Day: Hippo the Blond French Bulldog Puppy

Hippo is possibly the single best name that I have ever heard for a Frenchie. And Hippo is one of the cutest and the most blond French bulldog puppy (17 weeks old, in these pictures) that I have ever laid eyes on. Look at the stripey shirt! Look at the happy grin! Look at the smoochy-face games she plays with her mom!

Hippo also has an Instagram page: #marinhippo. You will note that in one of the pictures she has on this same outfit. You will also note that if you keep going back she keeps getting more hilariously ridiculous until she resembles a cross between a guinea pig and a tiny little hippo. This is a trip back in time that I highly recommend you take the time to pursue.

I’ve met a few people who can’t read dog expressions. I just can’t imagine that.

I mean, come on. Look at that face.
