Oh god the belly.
I spent today making chocolates. And made a really dumb mistake which might make them all turn out poorly. But oh well, ‘poorly’ in chocolate terms is still better than no chocolates at all.

Have you ever just wanted to go up to an entirely random stranger and say ‘I really need a hug right now?’ It has been a constant temptation for me over the past few weeks (although not a huge temptation until a couple days ago, when I finally got rid of the last vestiges of my cold, because who wants to hug a drippy person?) Looks like this golden retriever got up the nerve to do just that.

Out in front of a local watering hole. Called “Brew Bros”. I can’t even stand to look at the sign. So cringeworthy.

A perfect axis-snorgling!
For your belated Christmas day, something a little special: I found some people at Macy’s and badgered them mercilessly until they let me take pictures of them ‘interviewing’ one of the window puppies for possible adoption. I do not know what their ultimate decision was, but I have every hope that this as-yet-unnamed-by-them puppy was able to melt their hearts.
I got some video too but I do not have the energy to upload it today. Maybe some other time. Apple’s Live Photos are amazing for this sort of thing, but the effort involved in putting them on WordPress is just not something I can face right now.

Jerked suddenly from her window into a world she never knew existed, she… hmm. That seems unnecessarily dramatic. Anyway, she had to be taken out of the window regularly for poop breaks.

She was shaking for about the first ten seconds of the adoption interview, and then she totally calmed down.
During the hiatus between Christmas and now, word came in: it is official. This pup’s name is Zuzu (after the little girl in It’s A Wonderful Life), and she has been formally adopted by these fine folks. Here are a couple of pictures of her in her new home.
I have no idea what happened to make the site go down. It may happen again. Hopefully I’ll catch it before someone else reminds me this time. (I know what I was doing to it in the last week, but that shouldn’t have made it go down…)
Anyway, happy New Year’s, everyone. I know a lot of people saying they’re happy to see the back end of 2016, but I can’t help but look at some of the stuff going on in Europe and Asia, and, well, in the US as well, and think of this song.
Holidays, plane flights, a dog-sit from today through the 2nd, and my first TWO colds in two years, back to back! 2016 has definitely not been my year. Sniffle sneeze snort. Working on a long belated Christmas post. Soon, soon.
On the up side, the dog in question is sprawled on the sofa next to me with his hind legs in my lap. So that’s nice.
Everyone’s going to bed, with visions of sugar-glazed mousies dancing in their heads!
Yorkie mixes, maybe? Scruffy little pups, to be sure. There are more like ’em waiting at Macy’s in San Francisco… come on down and adopt a little bundle of cute!
I ran into Blue and his dad today, wandering around Mission Bay. And I was my usual “Oh my god what a gorgeous dog” and his dad said, “Yeah, you took some pictures of him and then NEVER POSTED THEM hint hint hint.” So I took some more. And then I went and looked and wouldn’t you know it, the old ones are actually better than the new ones. I’d even started editing them, I just couldn’t narrow it down so I left it ‘for later’.
I’m bad like that.
