Whatever Lola (3) wants, Lola gets.
(Don’t forget, CorgiCon is tomorrow! Meet me there! I will be the one crying because his camera can only hold 40 gigs of photos.)

Yet another big pet event this weekend that I didn’t know about: the Bay Area Pet Fair in San Rafael! If you’re not just looking for cuteness (because let’s face it, the CorgiCon can’t be beat in that regard), but are also looking for a pet of your very own, you should apparently go to this, because it is “The Largest Gathering of Adoptable Animals in California History.” That’s a lot of pets! Even I would not try to adopt that many pets, and I am well known for wanting all the pets.
I am not sure if I will be going or not. I am not sure if I am emotionally prepared to run into this many adoptable dogs when I STILL can’t get one of my own. But we shall see.
I spent a shockingly small amount of Tuesday in the last remaining post office in San Francisco that issues passports. Seriously: I walked in, talked to one person, got half of it done, talked to another person, got the other half done, talked to a third person, got it all paid for, and walked out, in under half an hour. And that’s counting the fact that I goofed on my application and they had to help me fix it. I am always pleasantly surprised when I have to deal with any large organization and things go smoothly, but this was a model of efficiency, made even more surprising by the huge budget cuts being forced on the USPS. Keep doing what you’re doing, guys!
So, uh, there was a dog involved somewhere here, right? Oh! Right, Aviana, the dog-in-a-bag Chihuahua! Right as I was leaving the post office, Aviana and her human were walking in, so I had to take a quick moment to snap a few shots. Sweet pup, 11 years old, very well-behaved and friendly.
Say hello and happy sixth birthday (today) to Sebastian, the Fastly Greyhound! “Fastly?” I hear you ask. And of course I reply, “Very fastly!”
Well. Actually. Fastly is an internet service company whose headquarters is right around Hipmunk’s, and whose service Hipmunk (my employer) uses to keep its web site nice and quick. And Sebastian is their appropriately-fast mascot and inspiration. He’s a former racing greyhound, of course. Isn’t his racing gear awesome?
Sigh. Of course, people at Fastly, whose company is named after a velocity, get to have an adorable real-animal mascot to keep them company. People at Hipmunk, whose company is named after an adorable animal mascot, do not. That seems quite unfair to me.
Oh man how did I not find out until now? CorgiCon is happening again, and it’s this coming weekend! Ocean Beach near the Beach Chalet restaurant. Be there or don’t be long, squat, and adorable!
I will return with pics or expire of sheer cuteness trying.
I first met Boulder back in March of this year, and got a bunch of pictures, which were so fuzzy I couldn’t tell if he was a ridgeback or a poodle. Fortunately, round two came out just fine.
My notes say “Penny, 6-ish, Carolina dog, aka American dingbat”. I think that may be a little harsh, don’t you? Sure, she’s a little silly, but… ohhh. Wait. That must be an autocorrect from ‘American dingo’.
Can Penny really be our first Carolina dog? Looks that way!
I think these might have been the result of some kind of multiple-LED streetlight? They remind me of the kind of shadows you get from leaves during a solar eclipse. Funky!
♫ How much for that marmie in the window? The adoption fees are most reasonable! ♩ (Well, it’s hardly Gilbert and Sullivan, but it’ll do.)
We’re now in a race, to see whether I run out of Macy’s window kitties before the next Macy’s window season starts. Cross your fingers.
