Dog of the Day: Big Friendly Shiba Inu

I didn’t get this one’s name, I was too busy being licked.

It’s hard to beat the sheer amount of cute that a Shiba can bring to bear.

He was very interested in what I was doing. Maybe I could get him to take some pictures of me for a change.

Double Dog Day: Ashley and Abbe the Border Collie Mixes

In keeping with the theme from yesterday, I present you two pups I ran into a couple weeks ago: Abbe, a five-year-old border collie/something-or-other mix, and Ashley. Ashley is a border collie mix too, though it’s kind of hard to tell. And apparently the DNA test agrees with my first impression, and she’s also at least part keeshond. And Ashley is healthy and happy and nearly twenty years old. And still likes to go on hikes!

Apparently her fur has always been like that… her head is double-coat, but her body is missing the guard hairs and only has the undercoat. Consequently, she has puppy-soft fur on her body.

Such a gorgeous face… and those eyes!

They’d had Ashley since she was a few months old. How lucky do you have to be to have such a wonderful dog for twenty years?

This is Abbe. I feel bad about not getting more pictures of her, especially with those gorgeous white socks.

This and the next one are pictures that were sent to me by Ashley’s family. If I had to guess, I’d say this was on the California coast, somewhere north of San Francisco.

I can tell someone is absolutely no trouble at all when it comes to car rides.

Dog of the Day: Sadie the Golden Retriever

Sadie is fifteen and a half years old! She’s really skinny, because she doesn’t like her kidney-friendly dog food very much, but I gather her weight has evened out, so that’s good. And she’s still getting around just fine, and you can tell just from the pictures that she’s still a super-happy dog. I only took a few pictures of her because she walked over to me and leaned her head down and pressed the top of it firmly against my thigh and leaned until I started petting her. And after that it was kind of hard to stop.

I love those coy looks, and golden retrievers seem to be masters of them.

Dog of the Day: Bella the Doberman Pinscher

Bella? Well… fine. A rose by any other name would wag just as hard.

Didn’t have a chance to work on the store today… work, then a local production of ‘A Little Night Music’. Lovely show!

Dog of the Day: Loki the Ridiculously Bespectacled Husky Puppy

He looks so dignified, at just 4 months of age!

Also, a huge thank you to Suzanne, who pointed out that when I last made changes to my store (quite some time ago!) I broke it for every browser except Safari. That’ll teach me not to thoroughly test my changes. I’ll have it fixed as soon as I can!

Loki may be the perfect name for a husky. Now all we have to do is introduce him to Thorgi…

Sunday Switchup: Third Cutest Logo In San Francisco

To be honest, even after visiting their web site I don’t really understand what they do, or how they make money. But I will say that they have the third cutest logo in San Francisco (after mine, and you-know-who-else’s, of course.)

Logo of My Web Room

I heartily approve of this cartoon dog… he even has great eyebrows!

Caturday Supplement: Macy’s Kittens

Need more cats! Maybe I’ll go out to Treasure Island one of these days and see if I can find some ferals to take pictures of.

Dog of the Day: Little Scruffbucket

I have no idea what this little guy is.

I mean ‘scruffbucket’ that in the nicest way possible, of course.

Dog of the Day: Poodle

So, I didn’t get a name or an age, but I do recall vividly what breed the owner told me his dog was. This is because I thought, as I was walking away, “Oh god, another of these designer breeds, I can’t believe anyone would name a dog breed a ‘party poodle’.”

It took me another two or three blocks to suddenly realize… no. “Parti”. As in “Particolored”.

Also, black and white parti poodles are reeeeally tough to photograph.

It’s a really striking coloration. Even moreso in person.

I also love this cut for poodles. Not too frou-frou, not too shaggy, it just looks smart!

Double Dog Day: Sally and Jailbreak!

Finally, some pictures of Sally and Jailbreak playing together. These two obviously adored one another, and were having so much fun. The only downside was the fact that Sally has really super-short fur, even shorter than usual for a pit. Normally not a problem unless it’s really cold out, but when she get into really roughhousing with another dog, she doesn’t have as much protection as another dog might, so she ends up a bit scratched up. But she doesn’t mind in the slightest, or even really notice, and it’s really nothing serious (I’ve gotten worse myself while playing with dogs) so no biggie.

Oh, I forgot to mention how Jailbreak got his name. It seems that his owners were at a rescue place, looking to adopt a dog. I think it was a schnauzer-based rescue, because I vaguely recall them mentioning that they were expecting to adopt a giant schnauzer. But apparently Jailbreak decided he liked the look of them, because he broke out of his enclosure and came over to say hello. And the rest is history… and pure schnauzing satisfaction.

They make such vicious growly sounds when they’re doing this, it’s adorable.

See how thin her fur is? You can see the black spots on her skin through it.

Doggie dancing. These two remind me of these two.

She wore him out. They’re around the same age (9 months for Jailbreak, maybe a year for Sally, I think?) but she has some extra store of energy somewhere.

When it became clear that Jailbreak was done playing for a few minutes, Sally walked over to me and looked up at me like, “Okay, so, will you be my NEXT playmate? I bet I can wear you out too.”

Aww! (Not shown is the too-blurry next picture, where Sally has her jaws clamped around Jailbreak’s left front leg.)
