Dog of the Day: Oh My God I Have No Idea But I Want One

I ran into two tremendously, ridiculously adorable puppies today. One I will be posting tomorrow, barring misfortune, and that one I actually got to play with. This one I just got to peer in a window at, and occasionally see wander through the viewing area of the live Macy’s window holiday webcam while I was at work.

I thought there must be something wrong with the world, since I saw this pup when I jogged past Macy’s on the way to work in the morning, and she was still there when I went home. I thought, “Have I misjudged humanity so utterly? WHY WILL NO ONE ADOPT THIS PUPPY!” But all is right with the world: someone committed to adopting the pup around 10 AM, but had to come back tomorrow to actually pick her up. Well, that’s all right, then. I only wish I knew when the lucky owner would be dropping by, so I could head there with my camera and catch some adoption photos.

Adorable Puppy in a Window

This almost looks like a Eurasier puppy. But that seems unlikely.

Adorable Little Fluffy Puppy OMG

I think her name was ‘Butterball’ or something similar.

HOLY FUCK THAT IS A RIDICULOUSLY ADORABLE PUPPY

Help… going… into… cuteness… coma…

ALERT! ALERT! RIDICULOUS ADORABILITY!

If it is before 9 PM, you must immediately go here and, if you are very lucky and he has not yet been adopted and is in the picture, you will see something ridiculously cute.

Also, just go there on general principles: the Macy’s windows now have live webcams, and they are adorable!

Dog of the Day: Costumed Yorkshire Terrier Puppy

So it seems that, according to one tracking site at least, the number one search that leads to my blog is a search for ‘dog with a blog’. Somehow I doubt this. (And, for what it’s worth, the three other trackers I checked all agree that that’s totally bogus, but none of them agree what the number one search terms actually are. So the take-away from this experience is… ‘the internet is weird’.)

This pup was a little pooped.

I love the white floof on the head.

Double Dog Day: Sophie and Cooper the Shiba Inus

I ran into these two (who I believe were down visiting from Washington) up in the Hyde Street Pier area. Cooper (the bigger of the two) was really, really interested in going swimming, which I guess was a little out of character for him. But both of them were really, really interested in saying hello to me, which is not out of character for them at all, but which is pretty unusual for the breed.

Just goes to show: you get ’em young and you socialize them well, and you can do a lot to make a happy, social pup.

Black and Tan Shiba Inu and Red Shiba Inu

A study in contrasts: same breed, totally different coloration. And one is quite large for a shiba, and the other is tiny!

Grinning Red Shiba Inu

The white tailtip! (Also the happy face!) Cooper gets my DoSF stamp of approval.

Black and Tan Shiba Inu and Red Shiba Inu

And I like this one just fine too! (Plus check out the perfect dog-shadow.)

Awwww! Totally adorable! (Even if someone is mooning us in the corner there.)

Dog of the Day: Seta the German Shepherd/Husky Mix

So first off, a plea! A friend of mine has run across a Situation, involving some neglected (rather large) dogs, and he’s hoping to be able to find one or more rescue organizations who could take at least the gentle and tame ones. He’s lined up a few donors, and I have volunteered to donate some more money, to assist with it, but we haven’t found anywhere yet that can help us.

So if you know of anyone who works for a rescue organization, anywhere around the California/Oregon/Nevada area, who might be willing to at least help us figure out what our options are, or know of anyone who might be willing to take one or more of the dogs, please leave me a comment! This is pretty urgent, since the owner just up and left for several weeks, with some of the dogs chained up outside his house. (I guess my friend has permission to help them, but he doesn’t have any WAY to help them right now.)

And that’s enough of that. Let’s go on to something a little bit more cheerful: Seta the German Shepherd/Husky, 2.5 years old, standing directly outside of a CHEESE SHOP.

German Shepherd Dog/Siberian Husky Mix

I totally mistook Seta for a puppy. She is petite and gawky, but I have to admit, she’s more polite than most puppies.

Autumn and I did a block-and-a-half detour to meet Seta. Totally. Worth it.

Triple Dog Day: Macy’s Window Puppies

Macy’s windows aren’t just for kittens, after all.

Caturday Supplement: It’s Macy’s Time Again!

Guess what time of year it is? It’s time for MORE MACY’S WINDOW KITTIES*!

(* And puppies! Offer not available in all areas. Void where prohibited by regulations regarding excessive cuteness. Which, thank goodness, does not include San Francisco.)

Calico Tabby

Sleepy kitty. I need to get down there in daylight!

Black (Lab) Friday!

I didn’t get the name of this pup, alas. But he’s the best bargain of the day.

Pretty sure he’s still a puppy.

Double Dog Thanks-Gav-ing Day: Jemma and Minka the Bernese Mountain Dogs

Today hasn’t gone quite as planned, but I’m still here, and can still give thanks for friends (both of the human and canine varieties.) So here are some friends: the ever-awesome Jemma and her family, including her new (adopted) little sister, Minka.

(Incidentally, ‘gav’ is how you say ‘bark’ in Russian. Have to make it clear that headline is inexcusable, rather than simply inexplicable. You’re welcome!)

Edit: How embarrassing, I got the little one’s name wrong: it’s Minka!

Bernese Mountain Dog

I hadn’t seen Jemma in quite some time. This was her reaction when she saw me.

This was her face when she realized mom wasn’t going to let her run over, leap onto me, bear me to the ground, and sit on me.

A Berner and a Berner puppy being polite and attentive! (Yes, food was involved.)

Minka has slightly eviler eyebrows than I am used to on a Berner.

Bernese Mountain Dog Puppy

Oh god the ‘puppy fro’. (This picture was followed by a lot of puppy-petting.)

Bernese Mountain Dogs

And this is what happened afterwards: Jemma got tired of being polite, came over, pushed me over backwards, and more or less sat on me until I hugged and petted her. (Needless to say, I loved it.)

Dog of the Day: Rihanna the 13-Week-Old Jack Russell Terrier Puppy

What a cutie! Those ears are so utterly perfect.

Just a tiny glimpse of spotty-puppy-belly there.

She definitely wasn’t shy.

This’d be a candidate for my favorite pictures list, if I hadn’t left my damn backpack in the background. I might try editing it, and the leash, out.
