This fine fellow was in the spot marked ‘Dog Parking’ outside of Bi Rite Creamery, in the Mission. A totally awesome store, I might add. And not just because they have dog parking, although, well, that too.
The position this guy was flopped in was surprisingly silly-looking.
I think that’s his natural nail color. Kind of looks like someone painted them pink, though.
I forgot to take down this pup’s name, but I do remember he was 13 years old or thereabouts, because Autumn and I thought he was a puppy!
The Charlie Brown sweater really makes the ensemble. Dad, believe it or not, had a nearly-matching sweater, too.
Oh my god how was this not on my radar? It’s National Puppy Day, for another two hours at least. And look who I ran into, today, to celebrate: Harper, the adorable-but-sleepy 7-week-old bullmastiff puppy. Oh. My. God.
Harper was worn out from her grooming experience (the pictures were taken at Wags but her mom graciously let me take a few pictures before she left.
Yes, that’s me. I’ve never had anyone ask me if I wanted to hold the puppy while they take a picture before. Hint: the answer is ‘YES!!’
Okay, okay, fine, so this is from the San Francisco Zoo, back in 2000.
It always boggles my mind how ORANGE they are.
So I ran into these two last week, and they were as adorable as could be. And I only found out later that my camera was set on ‘shutter priority’ and the shutter speed was way too high for the amount of light, so they ended up two very slightly lighter blobs in the darkness.
Luckily for me, their dad sent me some even adorabler pictures!

Talk about ‘ask and ye shall receive’… another bulldog! Ran across Bruno two days ago.
Bruno’s owner said that Bruno got really excited when he met new people. He sure did… he spent most of the photo session trying his damndest to lick me.
Do all bulldogs have spotty lips? Certainly seems like most of the ones I have seen and posted lately do.

Daisy is a 4-month-old blur. The lighting wasn’t even bad… she was just moving around so much that almost none of my pictures came out.
Bulldogs always look so pugnacious. The only danger from Daisy is having her wear out her tongue on your ankle.
Lucky guy.
Oh god the belly.
So, I posted my little complaint about not having any bulldog pictures at lunch, and who should I run into upon leaving work but Tairen and Roxie? Man, I should complain about things more often!
Tairen (a boy) is the brindle, and Roxie is the one with more white. She’s ten! And fit as a fiddle, and full of energy. For an English bulldog, that is pretty great.
Look at that expression. The sad eyes. The snaggle tooth. The spotty lips.
And then, wham! Suddenly, high-powered HAPPY!
Aw man. How could anyone resist that face.
One doggie grin can brighten my whole day.
I got a couple of sets of pictures of some awesomely adorable bulldog puppies over the last couple weeks, and I decided I would do a bulldog week: a bunch of adults, some puppies, and so forth. And I went through all ten thousand back pictures that I haven’t posted yet… and if there are any bulldogs in there, I wasn’t able to find them. I guess it’s because I find them so ridiculously sad and goofy that I post them right away after I see them. Well, in any case, get ready, because (continuing this trend) we’re going to have some pretty cute bulldog puppies in the next few days.
In the mean time, this shih tzu expects that you will find her every bit as cute as any bulldog.
Tied up outside a restaurant. She could obviously smell the food in there, and is an expert at looking hopeful.
There’s a future in show biz for this one… she has the ‘starved and neglected’ dog act down pat.
For St. Paddy’s Day, a startlingly red-haired pup. Anyone who says gingers have no soul needs to gaze into this dog’s eyes.
One of my favorite dog parks to visit. There are always a whole bunch of dogs having fun.
Plus it’s fun watching them skid around on that soft gravel-y stuff.
